World Golf Tour is, in its own words, "The world's most authentic online golf experience."
Basically it's a Free golf game, that runs from your web via Flash. There are Tier levels such as Amateur and Pro, awards, tournaments, country clubs (think Guilds in MMO's) And an item shop... OHHH NO An Item shop?! Yep, but not to worry, the credits can be earned, slowly, got for free via surveys, bought at the always ridiculous prices, or you can keep the starter clubs which aren't drastically worse than the best gear anyway.

This is what the game looks like. It's a series of photos basically of courses, a couple of which have the entire course ready to play stroke play on, which is Teeing off, driving, putting and trying to get the lowest score, and there are plenty of other courses with other challenges, such as closest to the hole.
The game re-creates how your ball acts depending on what angle you're standing in relation to the ball (If you're above it or below it so it'll hook left or right) The Wind is simulated, Backspin and Topspin is simulated, The Lay of the ball (How deep is it in the rough?) the whole 9 yards. It's Tiger Woods PGA Tour minus the fancy smancy 3D graphics and animations. This even beats out the old Links games in terms of graphics and gameplay, in my opinion
There are tournaments that hundreds and thousands of people compete in, with prizes, standings, ranks, awards. A persistent profile that keeps track of all your stats, such as longest and average distances driven, number of pars birdies eagles, holes in one, percentages of everything, average distance from the pin, etc etc. It's all there
There's a friends system, (And matchmaking, play with 4 people in the same game) 309 awards to be had, endless trophies to be won.. If you're into casual games or golf, I suggest giving it a try, What you got to lose? Besides your sanity trying to putt, which is hard as fuck
