What is it?
Operation Black Mesa is an upcoming mod for Half-Life:2 that totally recreates Opposing Force on the Source Engine.
Where does it take place?
Much like Half Life (And the upcoming Black Mesa), the game takes place in the Black Mesa Research Facility and Xen.
What about the Guns?
Well, like I said earlier, this is a total recreation. It hasn't been released yet whether there will be new weapons or not. The PCV also makes a return, not to anyones surprise.
Here's the site, if you need any more info. http://www.obmsource.com/

What is it?
Guard Duty is a total recreation of Half-Life: Blue Shift on the Source Engine.
Where?
Once again, it takes place in Black Mesa and Xen.
Guns?
Don't expect anything other then what you saw in Blue Shift, but with updated models and textures.

(Sorry for the REALLY small amount of content!)
Looks cool.
Both look great. Along with Black Mesa this almost all of the the Half Life series on the Source engine though someone still need to do Half Life Decay.

Agreed. We need Decay source!
Operation Black Mesa looks pretty cool so far. Guard Duty has very little information released though.
Also somewhat related, I found a picture of a Black Mesa SUV model on Google last week. If I recall correctly, it appeared to be based off the Ford Explorer, and had the Black Mesa Logo as well as Black Mesa written on the sides. But now I can't find it anymore. I swore it belonged to Operation Black Mesa but it's not on their website or anything.

Nevermind, I found it. It was apparently on the Moddb page but was deleted for some reason, but Google Images still picks it up.

I don't know why but that song reminds me of Terminator Future Shock
All these re-makes have awesome sound-tracks.
Very awesome concept video of the intro from Operation: Black Mesa

Also there's a video posted by one of the animators, displaying early glock animations (which instead of being one handed is now two handed).

Guard Duty is coming along well dont worry :) we will be releasing a media release some time in the forseeable future.
Hey there guys, glad to see the interest over OBM! I'm actually a developer on the project and was coming over here to post on the boards and saw this thread in the works.
A few tidbits that may interest you all:
1) Yes, we'll be featuring the original areas of Opposing Force, and if we have some time to spare to the best of my knowledge we'll be adding an extra area or two.
2) As far as weapons go, yes, there will be new weapons. We plan on implementing the full classic Opposing Force arsenal as well, of course.
3) We need mappers. My main reason for coming here in fact was to appeal to the facepunch community for a bit of mapper support. After all, what better place to find source mappers, right? So if you or someone you know happen to be handy with hammer and source mapping in general I definitely encourage you to head over to the forums (http://www.obmsource.com/) and leave an application!
4) If you'd like to keep a closer eye on the developments of the mod we also have a web-based irc channel that we use on the site for real-time communications. Here we'll often discuss current goings-on, what we're implementing, what's next in line for implementation, and of course all the usual random banter that comes from being on IRC. So if you'd like to know more about the mod, keep your ear low to the ground, or just want to help show support this is a great way to do so!
I'm looking more forward to this than Opposing Force 2. OF2 looks amateur compared to this magical work of art that is Operation Black Mesa.
About the Guard duty thing, they have to remember that this is based in a laboratory, laboratorys are clean and don't look half abandoned, so no dirt on the walls (until later in the game at least.). That means they just need to realize that using the hl2 textures isn't going to work, they are just too dirty and grimy.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
