I haven't got very far in to the first one, but I had to take a break, so I figured I might as well ask for some pointers from good ole' Facepunch. Just like, any basic stuff like... I don't know, shit that's helpful that I won't know from just going through the game.
erm shoot the enemies more than they shoot you?
Take cover a lot I suppose. Oh and it's always better to waste a grenade trying to destroy a fresh hole then it is to waste ammo killing the locust that emerge.
Yeah I know stuff like that. :downs: I meant stuff like 'always keep so and so guns, oh and if you see "so and so" on a wall, that means there's shit around'.
Active reload is your friend
Keep the locust rifle and a shotgun, the Lancer is rubbish.
Take your shotgun. Melee, then shoot them while they are stunned by it. Welcome to two-piecing.
Shooting an enemies' legs is often better than shooting their chest, provided you can reach them for an execution. The shotgun is one of the best weapons in the game. The Torque Bow can penetrate an enemy's skull and stick into another enemy, giving 2 kills for one arrow. Boomers/Grinders (and Butchers in 2) have a lot of health and can't be knocked down. Aim for the head. For Gears 2, smoke grenades and ink grenades are fucking useless.
Yeah um, stupid question time, but what's an execution and how do you do it? I'm only at the berserker in number 1.
Curb stomp in the first game. There are a shitload more on the second.
Execution is when they are downed and you walk up and kill them. In GOW 1 there's only a curb stomp that you can do by pressing X on GOW 2 each face button is a different execution. You don't have to worry about keeping guns because when you need to use a specific gun, it will always be there for you.
Wait damn, 'downed'? You can cripple enemies? Holy shit I have a lot to learn.
Don't bother keeping the Hammer of Dawn (giant laser from the sky), it only works in scripted areas in the first game and only outside without overhead cover in the second. [editline]02:30AM[/editline] [QUOTE=Big Ben;23484174]Wait damn, 'downed'? You can cripple enemies? Then execute them (if you're close enough) or shoot them in the head while they're on the ground.
For multiplayer if you're in a shotgun fight always roll after every shot.
Lancer>hammerburst on gow1/ hammerburst>lancer on gow2. also you wanna keep a boltok pistol with you, and longshot will always help you when you create distance. Never chainsaw because you are just a standing target. Also in gears 2 you will find that they weakened the shotty drastically compared to gears 1.
Blind fire is not so blind, it's actually bloody accurate. (GoW 2, don't remember much about GoW 1)
Keep in cover as much as you can, Blind fire is useful, The quick reload thing is definitely worth practicing.
in GOW 2 the scorcher is useless (stick with the shotgun) the grinder (minigun) is only useful for holding your ground the mortar is kick ass (i suggest you learn how to use it properly)
Sniper & shotgun best combo always hit active reloads on the sniper, so every shot counts
In GoW 2, Try to use shields and locust bodies to protect yourself [editline]10:38AM[/editline] When you reached [img]http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/image/article/914/914185/gears-of-war-2-20080929084139103_640w.jpg[/img] This part. In GoW 2. Shoot the glowing fruits! (Later you will know why, Not gonna spoil it all)
