Hey I'm currently working on this addon for alien swarm. So far I've created the map, fixed a lot of bugs and even packed it into a VPK

Please, if you find any glitches post on here and inform me of them, so that I can fix it in later versions.
Things to fix:
Balance - Some difficulty due to alien grouping.
Bugs - Any problems you find I want to fix, so tell me!
Players do not gain XP - Valve has de-activated XP for custom maps, so I cannot fix this as of now. Players still gain achievements!
Overview/radar - As of right now, the VTF version for Alien Swarm is 7.5, and there is no program which can work with this version yet. I already have an overlay, so once I can put it in VTF 7.5 I will have a map overview
Missions - So that players can switch which map to start with.

Fixed some tiles not aligning with others correctly.

Fixed a few bugs - I inadvertently left a few areas open where players could fall through.

Closed off some gaps in the map - Prevents players from falling through.
Copied some brushes and models - Also created some new geometry to fill gaps.
Textured some brushes - More to come!

Fixed online play - Half an update, so only half a digit change (5.5)

Added map "asi-badwater-a2" - A map created in TileGen and heavily modified in Hammer

Broke the bots on badwater - Dunno what I did but they don't work anymore. T_T
Unzip the file to Alien Swarm > Swarm > addons, then just enable the "Heat Stroke" addon under the game's options.
To play you have to type "map asi-heatstroke-b1" or for badwater, "map asi-badwater-b1" in console. To play with bots, first you have to open tutorial mode, close it, and then type "map asi-heatstroke-a5" in console. Online play is also working, so you can create a game but you have to start from the first map (heatstroke.)

As an added bonus, here's a map I created for Lt Bubbles. It basically shits out aliens all over you, and if you make it out alive you are godly. (Now with fixed multiplayer!)

Yes and yes. But I'm utilizing it to the fullest of it's extent.
Tilegen was actually missing some end caps, so I did have to go into hammer and fix some things. It also had some missing textures, so I had to fix that too.
Tomorrow I'm gonna work on getting some real textures in. Probably desert theme, since that's what the name came from. (was watching a documentary on death valley.)
OH ALSO, I plan to put a queen in there at the end, probably. :D
It would be cool if the queen in your addon was reskinned, but I'm not so sure that's possible. Is it? I mean it as in not clientside.

Once the overview is working they will probably just be dead-ends where aliens spawn (like in L4D)
As for now it's just a hilarious labyrinth for people to get lost in (and eaten.)
Zeldar: I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to reskin the queen, since the VPK contains a materials folder by default. The problem is that it might screw with other addons or the main game files, so I might have to actually recompile her. :|

Since you know a thing or two about hammer, maybe you could create an outside area for the queen ? shouldn't be too hard, just trading the sealbox for a skybox and some desert textures on the outside.
and how hard is it to create a new objetive, spawns and such ? can you place such monsters manualy on hammer like the queen ?
Can you make my dreamed massive amounts of shit coming out of everywhere survival map?
I fail at any kind of map editor it seems...

I figured I would. A skybox wouldn't be hard, but I dunno where I'd start it (if I do the entire outside area, the whole floor would be lined with sand.)
Adding monsters is pretty simple as far as I can tell so far. They are just entities like everything else in hammer.

Alien Swarm uses a director, but you can place and event "boss" spawns and whatnot, just like every source game. The shield swarm that comes out of the exploding pipe on the third mission of Jacob's Rest was all done in hammer.
Also you don't seem to understand what a skybox is and how it's absolutely useless in a game like Alien Swarm. A skybox is a series of background images that usually resemble a skyline, clouds, etc. A 3D skybox includes 3D props and whatnot that are outside the map. In source, the 3D skybox is like 6x smaller than everything else, so it needs custom tiny props. Skyboxes don't actually exist in Alien Swarm because you can't look up, they are only used in FPS games.
Oh, there's a button to cap the map? Would have been much easier.
For bubbs: I dub it "Shitstorm." It will literally shit aliens all over you. Packing in VPK soon.

How do you make the interface so small? When I activate mine, I can barely look through mission tab - I have to scroll at least 6 times to get through a line.

I know exactly how a skybox works. In this case it would appear UNDER the map, as 3d skyboxes tend to do. Trust me bro, I've been mapping for Source for about 3 years now.

4 years here br0. I don't think you need a 3D skybox at all, a user can't see very far, so I'm pretty sure you can just detail everything. Even pits wouldn't require a 3D skybox. I'm not sure what you're going for. In any case, I wasn't talking to you about the skybox thing, I was explaining to that other poster.
As for being able to play online, simply start a listen server and choose the addon in the map select.
Locutus try making a arena like map where loads and loads of bugs come to the middle and there are like supplies scattered around the center of the arena along a few extra sentries and barricades to help planning.
Aswell as locked doors on the beginning to hold em off while we set up stuff.
I liked the first map as a test everything works perfect for multiplayer and stuff, people can't download the map on join but that might be a problem with me hosting.

Use the [url=http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Vtex]vtex.exe[/url] from "Steam\SteamApps\common\alien swarm\bin". I am using old materials on my map, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use them for the overview.
I am guessing VALVe will be doing something similar to how Tripwire handles custom KF maps. A whitelist that lets you get experience on these levels.

That is retarded, you can get max lvl with 9 hour of playtime or so, it's not an mmo.

It's not short if you play it on hard/insane.
and that's another point, the campaing is short so what's the point of blocking leveling on the custom maps ?
Because boosting could be possible on the custom maps and that's not good. Maybe there will be other other campaigns for leveling as well.
