Resident Evil : Revelaitons is a shitty typo, however, Resident Evil: Revelations happens to be the newest game in the now long lasting capcom series, the game just got released for the 3ds in the US and it's been out for a week or so in the UK, in the game you take control of various characters exploring various areas, though mainly staying confined to the mysteries of a seemingly abandoned luxury cruise ship, the primary protagonist are; Jill Valentine: The master of unlocking herself returns and you'll spend most of the time in control of her, there's nothing super special about her other then she's the biggest main character, she and her new partner Parker get suckered into boarding a infected boat, where they work together to uncover the mysteries of the mysterious Ooze Zombies. Parker: Jills partner on the ship, he came as her backup and is like the Shiva for those who played 5, he's a survivor of a terrible incident that's similar to the original Raccoon City outbreak, and has a great deal of knowledge fighting Hunters. Chris Redfield: The recent poster boy of RE, he's sent chasing after a terrorist organization and reports say he's vanished on a ship with his current partner, Jill's main objective is to find and save him. Revelations main meat is it's story mode, boasting a pretty impressive length, several difficulty levels, and rewards for completing achievements (think xbox achievements or trophies), the game is split up into chapters, usually starting with a flashback of another character showing how they got into the situation, then a section where you play as Jill exploring the ship with Parker, the first half of a chapter (Chris usually or Parker) tend to be more action packed loading you up with ammo and giving you pretty hefty guns, while Jill's sections are more RE: 1-3 where ammo is surprisingly limited, monsters have plenty of health, and there's even a time where all of your weapons are yanked and you just have to run. Combat's handled by aiming in first person, healing items are just a button press away, and the D-pad is quick select, monsters have QTE's to escape, and you can dodge out of the way if you time button presses right to duck under attacks, though now monsters and ghouls have the ability to knock you on your ass and you have the option to mash a button to get up or if you have a pistol you can fire on the ground trying to kill a enemy instead of wasting time. There's also a new gamemode called Raid which unlocks after clearing 3 chapters, in Raid you get set in sections of the ship you've cleared and you're given a objective, get from point A to point B as fast as possible, while being efficient in killing any monsters along the way, the gameplay is similar to that of old Mercenary modes with a long list of unlockable characters and special weapons you can buy with play coins or points you earn from completing runs. Monsters in Raid Mode also have a random element generator granting random ones increased attack power, defense, speeding them up, or giving more health, all visible from a floating health bar. The best part of Raid mode is the fact it has online co-op so you and a friend can set up games where you compete for points or just try to help each other survive, Overall the games fun as hell and the only problem I can really knock it for is the fact that there's loading elevators that absolutely devour framerate (never in a fight, just when you're riding a elevator) but that aside I highly recommend it if you have a 3DS, it's well worth the money and pretty fun to boot. Here's the games launch trailer. List of Friendcodes if you wanna do co-op
This game is fucking awesome I got a case with the typeo too
This game doesn't look like resident evil at all. It looks more like dead space or silent hill with those weird monsters.
They are focusing more on Bioterrorism in this one which is why it is baasically all B.O.W.s Also the cutscenes are amazing looking
This game doesn't look like resident evil at all. It looks more like dead space or silent hill with those weird monsters.
People have been saying this since resident evil 4.
This game doesn't look like resident evil at all. It looks more like dead space or silent hill with those weird monsters.
They are canon though and fit with the story well.
[sp]Damn Rachel you scary[/sp] Honestly this entire game feels far more like RE 1-3 then anything to me, yeah there's a few action set pieces and the camera is 3rd person but the setting and atmosphere is spooky as all hell, entirety of chapter 4 made me genuinely nervous the entire time.
Just for future reference, when Resident Evil 6 comes out and it's action packed instead of survival horror, don't complain, it's astounding how much this game flops, and it's such a shame because this is such a huge return to form it's outstanding. This is easily, EASILY the best game on the 3ds, and one of the best RE games made. It has a narmy story which is good, as if you thought 1-3 were supposed to be serious then you're kidding yourself. The only complaint I have with the game are named Kieth and Quint, so bad.
what the hell that launch trailer is fucking full of spoilers also i grabbed the game tuesday when it came out, but i've only had the time to play through the first three chapters. thoroughly enjoyed them, anyways. [editline]10th February 2012[/editline] i charged into the first boss thinking i've played more than enough re4 and re5 to deal with a chainsaw dude, but christ it was a lot harder than i expected.
I have this game, and I'm on chapter 3. There's something just...weird about this game. I can't put my finger on it though. Maybe it's the really odd control scheme. It feels so alien to me.
I plan on getting this as soon as possible because all in all, it looks like a step in the right direction after 5.
I think this game is pretty awesome!
Playing with control scheme C, replacing face buttons as a faux second analog stick because I have a nyko battery. It's not as bad as you would think it is, the only problem is that it kills your thumb after awhile. Being able to move and shoot in RE is great. Anyways, fuck the boss in episode 3. I seriously hope he has the most health out of all the bosses, because damn.

For a first boss that fight is absurdly difficult. Played through Chapter 5 myself, and through the first seven Raid mode stages. Raid mode is fun as fuck. I wasn't expecting much, but I've got to say it's almost more appealing than the main campaign. :v: It's a lot more difficult than I expected. I've played through 5 a number of times, I'm just over halfway through 4, and I've played the shit out of Mercenaries. And somehow, Revelations is a whole hell of a lot harder. I'm constantly almost out of ammo. During the Jill portion of Chapter 5, I ended up running past most enemies because I couldn't even figure out how to kill them. That's never something I'd have to do in 4 or 5. It's also a bit unnerving at times. The entire [sp]Rachel[/sp] sequence is honestly pretty creepy. [editline]11th February 2012[/editline] so yes, the next time someone whines about re6 being too action-y, i shall tell them to shove it up their ass and try revelations
My only complaint about this game is losing the perks with character switching.
how is online
how is online
I haven't had a single problem with it, ran through all of Trench with a friend in one go and we never had any lag.
My only complaint about this game is losing the perks with character switching.
Hm?
Hm?
I think he means everytime you play as a different character in campaign, you get different abilities and upgrades. Like I noticed when you play as Chris in the mountains in Episode 2, he was able to hold more bullets than Jill as such. When you switch from Jill to other characters later on, you lose all your weapon upgrades and stuff because you're playing as someone else. Anyways, I'm on episode 4, things are really dark and common enemies are getting tougher... also still fuck that boss from episode 3. Used almost all the gas canisters, like 3 or 4 grenades, and most of my shotgun and pistol ammo to take him down. Eugh.
All I have to say is Rachel and Jessica Sherawat. :q: Ontopic: I wish I had a N3DS. This seems like one of the only reasons to get one.

Raid mode looks pretty fun, but I have no one to play with :saddowns:
Was watching gameplay of it. Seems they went back to the survival horror instead of all action all the time.

Eugh.
Personally, I sort of appreciate how the different scenarios each take place in their own little continuity. It'd be dumb if using all your ammo for the Terragrigia portion would cripple Jill on the ship, for example. I just hit episode 9. Haven't started it yet, though. That Scagdead from episode 3 was still probably the hardest part of the game, excepting possibly the bilge section. (I think that was episode 5.) I ended up running past most all the enemies there. There's also a timed sequence in episode 7 that I finished with literally less than ten seconds on the clock. [editline]11th February 2012[/editline]
Was watching gameplay of it. Seems they went back to the survival horror instead of all action all the time.
In my opinion, it's pretty much a perfect balance between action and slower survival horror. There are portions where you're basically just given a pile of ammo and told to "shoot ALL the things!" which are kind of silly, but they're thematically enjoyable. But playing as Jill usually entails more standard RE-style switch-flipping and key-finding. I'd say it's way more "classic RE" than even 4 in that regard. There are also one or two bits which were legitimately creepy, which is more than I can really say for 4 or 5. It's a shitton of fun, though, you really ought to give it a try if you've ever enjoyed Diablo or Borderlands. Also, I need a Raid-mode partner. I'll post up my FC sometime.
Well we know who the [sp]woman that Chris is screaming about in the RE6 trailer[/sp] is.
uhkwapalis
I just got to that boss that y'all are talking about. Holy fuck. A thing of that size should not move that fast. Nor should there be hordes of weaker BOW's massacaring you from every angle. Walking into that room creeped me right the fuck out, with his voice and everything. Side note: Does anyone else just kinda let Parker...fend for himself? I know I do.

They're also completely worthless, but whatever. So yeah, I pretty much just try to position myself behind my partner and use him/her as a meatshield most of the time. Got up to episode 10 now. The game crashed once in episode 9, which worries me, but that was once in some ten hours of gameplay, so I'm hoping it's an isolated occurrence.

Just finished the game. I know I'm probably the only one that thinks this, but it was easily my favorite of the "new" Resident Evils. (4, 5, and this one.) The gameplay has finally evolved to an ideal midpoint between purposefully-clunky and modern (especially with the Circle Pad Pro, which honestly is actually wonderful for this game), the atmosphere managed to skip from slow horror to large-scale action and back again, and the story was equal parts cheesy and incredible. [sp]I hope Raymond and Jessica's employment is detailed in RE6. On that same point, does anyone think some of the mutations in the RE6 trailer look a bit T-Abyss-esque?[/sp] [editline]12th February 2012[/editline] Oh yes, and the music was especially fitting. The orchestral, operatic style really fits RE.
