'Out of range' on Alien Swarm

I tried to amp the settings on alien swarm, but when i clicked apply ( or done, dont remember which ), my monitor went black and then a box came up that said 'OUT OF RANGE'. I cant fix it, and whenever i try to start alien swarm, it goes back to the black screen and 'out of range'

any help?

Maybe you tried setting your resolution over the maximum of your screen somehow?

Do you have LG monitor by any chance? I get that sometimes on some games too, I still haven't figured out why. And no, it's not the resolution SweetSwifter.

Set the resolution on the launch options with -w 800 -h 600.

I'm not sure if that's the right command, do a little search if it doesn't work.

Try manually inserting the resolution you want (that doesn't go over range) in game's launch options.

-width (number here)
-height (number here)

This should fix it as it resets all configurations. Make sure to remove it from the launch options after using it so it odesn't reset them every time you launch the game.
