are they?
what is has more realistic models? dod,css and l4d or the cod series? valve seems to have simpler models and iw/treyarch have more complexe ones. is this because valve are lazy or is that because cod wants prettiness over realism?
Are you kidding me? They almost never are, hell some don't even have real names.
God knows STALKER doesn't use real names.

Also most games have the bullets eject out the wrong side.
No. They're not modeled realistically. Call of Duty probably has the most realistic weapon models, although they're still very inaccurate. Valve's weapon models are simpler because they don't look very TaCtic00l, they're just the base gun, no rails or attachments.
no

Best joke ever. The weapons in CoD look way too inaccurate.
The most realistic looking guns I have seen in games have been in Red Orchestra and ArmA series, tho modders have made ten times more realistic weapons for em too.
you forgot Half-life 2

probably the most horrible model of MP7 ever, not to mention the grenade launcher that is the same size than the actual normal muzle...

Uh, that's not the MP7. It's based off the MP7. Like the pistol is based off a USP match or something like that.

I actually liked the how the SMG looked before. But now when I think about it... :saddowns:
well, they could at least have made the grenade launcher look like a real grenade launcher under the gun...
ARMA 2 has pretty realistic models.
Games are using plastic-shiny guns
Rainbow 6 Vegas.
The 3D model itself is usually pretty accurate, how the gun sounds, handles and behaves on the other hand...

Looks nothing like an MP7.
The pistol grip on the MP7 is in the middle not at the end.
Most weapons in the MW series are designed off of airsoft, as is apparent in the last part of the campaign where Soap kills Shepard. If you look down at your chest as you're pulling the knife out of you, you can see inlet/outlet ports for bbs from airsoft magazines. As well as the Ak-47 has no magazine release button behind the magazine like it should.

Lol good one.
T4CT1C0OoL R41LS ON EVERYTHUNG
There's a point between having a collection of textureless shapes which took less than ten minutes to assemble and an authentic M4A1 which took months and a tenth the game's budget to research and model ingame which I feel comfortable with.

The magazines in the vest are upside down and they are the drain holes.
Despite the rumor of them being airsoft magazines.

Oh please. They bought a bunch of replica and disarmed rifles, including real rifles for firing range exercises when Criterion were developing Black... and they still completely fucked up the weapon models.
And that research is overkill as far as I'm concerned. Arma 2 was made on a tiny budget and its weapon models are far more accurate than those of the giant-budgeted MW2.
The actual models are more or less accurate.
Behavior, sounds, and reloading are almost always wrong though.
Behaviour and sound and animations all go under modelling actually.
So no, they're never right. Closest are Red Orchestra and ARMA and suprisingly stalker.
Those 3 are the K approved games. So yeah, there.
I love how people claiming futuristic guns set in the future and designed by an alien race look inaccurate. Half Life 2 doesn't care about realistic guns, it's set in the future.
The mp7 in Hl2 is pretty ridiculous. I mean the grenades it fires are larger than the grenade launcher.
[editline]06:15PM[/editline]
So is the op talking about the models themselves or the characteristics of the guns? Because most games, especially military ones model them correctly aside for the mirrored ejection port. But when it comes to characteristics most mess it up for balance reasons.
It was said before that the reason the ejection ports are the wrong side in css was because the dude who modelled them made them left handed then just flipped the models.

that's why i always use custom skins, they look better and are more accurate

It's not so much that they're "inaccurate" as it is that they're completely impossible.
Developers flip the ejction ports because it's cooler to watch the spent cartridges spurt out whilst firing. No other reason.
I will say that I think Resistance and Liberation has some really well done modeling and animation. I can't say it's accurate because I've only see photos of the real weapons in the game. But my only opinion is based on the fact that I've seen alot of WW2 games and those seem the most realistic in their animation, reaction, and modeling.

I think that's part of the reason as well. People want to see more particles and stuff, they don't care.
The CoD weapons used to be accurately portrayed. Correct sights and all.
