Hi, just asking for some cold war games, I have defcon, but not much else, please fill me in.
Well, if you get hearts of iron doomsday, it is a world war 3 scenario. Also, world in conflict is a world war 3 game too set during the end of the cold war.

I don't know if there are a lot of games about being caught in a decades-long cock-measuring contest whilst gripped by constant paranoia and fear of complete nuclear annihilation.

Games just set in the era or has the similar superpower saber rattling theme?
If you like turn-based strategy games I recommend Steel Panthers MBT. It has a lot of Cold War gone hot scenarios set in the 1980s plus a few more on Cold War proxy conflicts like the Middle East and Southern Africa.
On top of that there's Flashpoint Germany. You get to command West German, British or American troops of NATO's Northern Army Group against the Soviet hordes in northern Germany.
Battlezone 1 is a RTS shooter IN SPACE. It's quite old though and I don't know if it'll run on say Windows 7.

Ace Combat 5 is set in a similar "cold war" scenario and it's one of the finest arcade flight games for the PS2.

Ooo this is a very good cold war esque game. I reccomend this one.
World in Conflict is a pretty good, there is still a pretty good community for it too.
