• Question regarding Portal 2 with PC and PS3

I'm not even sure if this is thread-worthy but anyways, I heard that if you buy the PS3 version of Portal 2, you get the Steam version for free on your PC. I was just wondering if my friend buys the PS3 version of Portal 2 and gives me the Steam version to use on MY Steam account, is that possible? Or will he have to connect his PSN to Steam to activate it from there?
He has to connect it to his own Steam account. Until the PSN is back up(a week from now) he won't even be able to get the free copy for himself anyway.
So it is true that you buy on one system, and it'll transfer to your PC as well? Wonderful, I thought that was a rumor.
If your friend bought it on the PS3 he then needs to activate it on a steam account to play online on the PS3 version. This will also give him a PC version for whatever account he registered. You need to be logged in to steam to play the multiplayer on the PS3 and on the PC you need to be logged into steam to play the game at all. So, you cannot play on his PC version while he plays his PS3 version because they're the same account and when it's accessed elsewhere it'll log one of you out.
Thanks for the answers guys. Really appreciate it.
