I'm just scared that Blizzard(activision) might screw us with DLC garbage, that give some people an unfair advantage in MP.

It's Blizzards game, and thats not their style. Activision may own them now but they have much less say in what happens than you might think.
I loved D2, it was one of my favorites growing up. I am definitely going to get it.
