It was a Game Mode that spawned from WC3(?) (Or was it SC1?)
Its a Heroes vs Heroes thing, there are 3 'lanes' full or NPCs that due it out , object its to take out the other sides base

What's with everyone saying dota sucks? Yea sure the community is the worst ever but the gameplay is good.
Well they did the same with Alien Swarm and that didn't turn out bad although it does get boring after a while.
Also we have to remember that Team Fortress was a Mod at first Valve ended up contracting that

Why would they trademark an acronym that means Defence of the Ancients, which is basically the name of a genre, and then not make a dota game.
That would be like me trademarking CSS and then making a management sim.
Bitching because VALVe is making something other than a FPS, so it seems. I'd love to see what VALVe do with this, but I've never played DOTA before anyway.

CSS could very easily stand for Corporate Stability Simulator or something. Yes, in this case Dota probably stands for defense of the ancients, but it doesn't have to.
