I've been looking at Brohoster and heard that it was great. I thought about switching my server to it and then looked at the price. $165.24 a year for 10 slots? What the fuck? Is their service really that good? Thats a fuckload more then what I pay now.
Holy shit. :wtc:
JWJ is on my friends list, I'll talk to him. What game are you trying to host it for?

:wtc:
What are you paying now and who provides it? That seems like a reasonable price to me...
So ~14 bucks per month is too much? :downs: Also:
At other companies, they charge by the slot and only by the slot. However, what many people don’t know is that a player adds a very negligible amount of impact on a server compared to what the server uses at base. Because of this, Brohoster uses a new way of pricing game servers by using a base price at 8 slots (calculated using the RAM and CPU usage of a full 8-slot server) and then making each slot after 8 slots a very small amount based upon how much each additional player taxes the server resources. In short, our prices are much more reasonable and fair to those who rent game servers. It’s just another way that we treat you like a bro and not screw you like a ho.
I don't see the problem. I checked Xenon Servers' site, and it was $204/year for the same 10 slot server. [editline]13:37[/editline] Also keep in mind that you can get the price of Brohoster servers reduced by using the tons of promo codes they've given out. [editline]13:38[/editline] I'm assuming that you've never dealt with buying game servers before. Guess what: they're not only $1 a month, contrary to whatever silly notions may have existed in your head beforehand.
I paid $80 a year for 10 slots.
For what game and with what host?
I paid $80 a year for 10 slots.
And now the hoster declared bankruptcy? Because I fail to see why you are in need of a new one.
And now the hoster declared bankruptcy? Because I fail to see why you are in need of a new one.
I'm curious about that myself.
Go with brohoster the customer service is apparently, excellent.
I paid $80 a year for 10 slots.
Why the fuck do you want to change ?
There's really only one reason why we cost more than our competitors and that is that all of our other competitors stuff their servers to the absolute maximum before it's down to it's knees so they get a larger profit margin. We don't allow our server averages to ever go over 50-60%, that way if it's peak time your server isn't going to shit itself. This means less gameservers to a dedicated server, which means we need to get more money to be able to afford our hardware. Our pricing system is how all gameservers should be priced in our opinion, rather than overselling the shit out of everything. Whoever you're with, do the math. A dual quad core server can cost up to $350-$400 a month. Multiply that by 12, and you're looking at at least $4200/year in server costs. They would have to put at least 55 10-slot gameservers after fees at that price to break even on it, even more if they want to make profit. If you feel like going with the cheaper competitors, don't complain when you get lag. I'm pretty sure the reason you want to switch is because of that, so don't expect to get anything different without paying a little more. Here's three of our servers and as you can see they have plenty of room for you to dick around on.

Im going to wait until the next promo. You guys seem to be expanding fast, and if the past repeats itself, a promo is just underway.... Or I'll get bored waiting and just rent a server anyway.
I try to hate your for advertising but damn you're so good at it.
I don't own a server or anything but based off of what I've seen, brohoster looks like the best option.
Gotta love the server names. :buddy:
So that's why all the BC2 servers I've been playing on lag like shit during the day and play smoothly during the night. Explains a lot.
broseidon, god of the brocean
