My problem is this. I bought Red Alert 3 from Steam as a birthday present last year, and, as my computer hadn't the space to install it, I installed it on a friend's computer, knowing that Steam lets you install it on multiple computers without much trouble.
I finally get a new hard drive for my computer, so I install it here and uninstall it from the computer at my friend's house.
After trying to login to the online part of Red Alert 3 so I can play it with my friend again (it allowed me to login when I was at his house), it proceeds to show me the Terms and Conditions screen, then when I accept, it tells me "Your installation's CD Key will be linked with your EA Account."
Okay, fair enough. 'OK'. Suddenly..
"DISCONNECT NOTIFICATION: The specified code has already been used by another account."
I can't seem to work my way around this, so any help on the subject would be appreciated. I tried to make a thread on the Command and Conquer forums, but it lacked a register button that I could see and it wouldn't let me connect to the page anyway.
Thanks, and please try to keep comments about how much better any other Command and Conquer games are to a minimum.
Ahh, nothing like the smell of 3rd party anti-piracy systems fucking you over in the morning.
Your best bet would be calling EA support. If they have a telephone number, I've heard calling that usually gets results quicker.
You linked your CD key to your friends account and you're suprised you can't link it to yours?
That's not even 'OOooOOOoo EVIL DRM,' it's perfectly reasonable basic copy protection.
However, as DanTehMan said, EA may be able to unlink it from your friends account if you can provide some proof of purchase.
I would say your "friend" fucked you over using the key on his EA account.
No, as I said, I didn't use it on the friend's account. I used it on my own account, but on my friend's computer. Anyway, called EA Support, they sorted the problem out. Forgot about their number.
Yes but to play online you need to add it to your EA account, And to do that you need to add a CD Key, Steam or not. Steam will give you CD Key to enter. I'd say your friend added it to his account. Either way you said it's resolved.
