Good idea but you're forgetting Facepunch is comprised of lazy, unorganized people

That's true, but it's worth a shot, isn't it?
I guess it could work. Have 12 people each make 1 map by themselves then put it in a wad. Not very hard to do either.

Who said it had to be just mapping? I can see replacing the health bonuses with jars of nutella :v:
Too bad I can't map for shit

And changing the hell areas with places outside.

Genius!

You could just say teenagers but okay
I'm in, I've edited/made maps and sprite replacements for WADs with friends before. I recommend we use the Extendable Wad Editor for most of our work. We need a Steam group to coordinate this though.
I suppose that means I should get off my lazy ass and start using steam? Also XWE is really outdated and full of bugs, I like to use SLumpED.
I thought that this thread was going to be about a 12 year old 'hacking' Facepunch. v:v:v

That just gave me an idea, we could replace the imps with 12-year-olds that throw Xbox controllers at you! :buddy:
Coming from someone who practically lived, breathed and ate this game for a portion of my life; you're biggest concern is the theme of your wad.
And don't try to do anything fancy 'less you have a boatload of experience under your belt. It's way easier to stick to the stock textures and work with them, when your other option is to get tangled in a nasty web of custom art and a plethora of extra editors. The easiest way would be to have multiple Facepunch users create levels, or have the 'theme' to imitate the feel of Facepunch.
I hate to say, but very rarely do these "Let's create a total conversion!" things get very far unless they stick to baby-step ideas or the guy driving it has been making content and levels on the engine for a long time.

Well I wasn't really planning on a total conversion, just a facepunch community WAD with some bits of humor here and there, but that's just my personal stance. If we have some people that are skilled enough for that kind of stuff, and enough of them, I say go for the total conversion!

Ha! Sounds good then. Been ages since I've done anything, but if you want someone who knows random tidbits of info and can (awkwardly) work a level editor, I'm your man.
Send me a private message or something whenever anything gets started. Once Portal 2 comes out, though, I'm gonna be a on/off busy man.
Excellent, happy to have ya!
I imagine the map maker would be similar to paint, only you can paint 3d.

Actually it depends. Most people use doom builder for maps but there are alternatives.
Here for those who want it. And some screens.

And here's the one I used to use.

Doom Builder 2 is the most popular map editor as of now.
I can help with mapping. Just add me on STEAM.
Shall I add you to the list of mappers?
I'll help a bit. It should only take a bit to make a map.
Yeah. I'd give examples of my mapping, but I reformatted and lost them all.
Okay, but why don't we share our works via the forums instead of steam?
Sounds good!
Well, I gotta go to bed, guys. Take good care of the thread for me!

See, like i said, 3D Paints with wireframe shit and what not, you know, like paint has. (fuck me, it's a joke)
Add me to the mappers/editors, I have some experience with this.
I could try my hand at a couple of maps. Are we planning on using any source port specific features like GZdoom/Skulltag's 3d floors?
Replace Pain Elemental with Postal's ass, and make it shoot rainbows.

Some hellish test map I made, inspired by Deus Vult.
I'd love to help map.
(I'll get a better picture - the gamma is screwed on that one.)
I'll do textures if you like.
