• Source Quality & Performance Autoexec - Updated to Source 2009

Hello everyone! I figured now would be a good time to repost my Source quality & performance autoexec, beings the engine version has been updated for most Source games (Adding new console commands), and so many edited versions of it with unneeded or detrimental commands have been posted and widely accepted.
//================ 2010, 1/4 Life - MrTwoVideocards - Your Mother =================// // // Purpose: Ultimate Source 2 quality and performance Autoexec config. // NOTE: Please ensure that multicore rendering is on in Advanced Video Settings. // //=================================================================================// // Multithreading - Don't use with Garrysmod host_thread_mode 2 //Forces on multithreading. Defaults to 0 mat_queue_mode 2 //Default is -1, Single Synchronized thread. 2 is multi-threaded. This handles materials. studio_queue_mode 2 //Default is 1, a single thread. 2 is multi-threaded. This handles models. r_threaded_client_shadow_manager 1 //Threaded world and flashlight shadows. r_threaded_particles 1 //Threaded particles (Defaults to 1) r_threaded_renderables 1 //Threaded renderables //r_queued_decals 1 //UNSTABLE! Enables queued decals. r_queued_post_processing 1 //Queued post processing. r_queued_ropes 1 //Queued ropes. //cl_threaded_bone_setup 1 //CAUSES GRAPHICAL ISSUES! //cl_threaded_client_leaf_system 1 //UNSTABLE! Enables the threaded visleaf system. //cl_interp_threadmodeticks 1 //ONLY USE IN MULTIPLAYER GAMES! Adds some extra interpolation ticks for multithread mode. //snd_mix_async 1 //Multithreaded sound. Causes the first few miliseconds of sounds to be cut off on most systems. // Renderer //BELOW: Enables software AA at maximum quality. Software AA works alongside normal AA, and helps to remove further //aliasing, such as power lines. Little to no frame loss with this enabled. This can also be used as an AA replacement for low performance PCs. mat_software_aa_quality 1 mat_software_aa_strength 1 mat_software_aa_strength_vgui 1 mat_software_aa_blur_one_pixel_lines 0.5 mat_software_aa_edge_threshold 1.4 // Model Quality (Lowers FPS Somewhat) mp_usehwmmodels 1 //Uses the high quality faces from the "meet the" videos. mp_usehwmvcds 1 //Use high quality facial animations. // Sound //snd_digital_surround 1 //Enables Digital Surround Sound for speakers with SRS. ONLY USE THIS IF YOU HAVE SRS ENABLED STEREO SPEAKERS! This CVAR can cause issues with sv_consistency 1 servers. dsp_enhance_stereo 1 //Better quality sounds. Defaults to 0 on some systems. Comment this if you use headphones or have more than two speakers. // Alien Swarm Only //mat_object_motion_blur_enable 1 //Enables a faked version of object motion blur on physical objects. Little to no FPS loss. // Portal Only (Severely lowers FPS) //r_portal_stencil_depth 10 //Maximum setable option in the Portal options menu is 9. The CVAR will go to 10. // Episode 2 and Garrysmod Only //hunter_allow_nav_jump 1 //Allows hunters to jump, creating a more interesting foe to fight. // Team Fortress 2 Only //cl_new_impact_effects 1 //Uses particles instead of sprites for bullet impacts. Causes lower FPS, but in some cases better multicore scaling. //cl_burninggibs 1 //If a player is on fire and gibs, his gibs are on fire too. Causes lower FPS. //bind f +use //Sandman baseballs will fly into the air if you press "use" on them. This is usefull for getting stuck baseballs back! // Counter Strike: Source Only //cl_c4dynamiclight 1 //Creates a dynamic light whenever a planted C4 flashes. This lowers FPS greatly, but can be useful for spotting the bomb, and increases graphical quality. // Other jpeg_quality 100 //Better quality screenshots with F5. mat_motion_blur_forward_enabled 1 //Enables a tunnel vision like motionblur when moving at high speeds.
By default, this config is 'generic' and set for singleplayer use (See the multicore section). Uncomment any game specific commands you require. For instance, if you wish to use this with Team Fortress 2, remove the slashes (//) before any of the Team Fortress 2 specific commands you desire. Changelist: (Since my last released version)
Adjusted multicore commands for maximum stability as of Source 2009.
Added and enabled new multicore commands added as of Source 2009.
Added the Counter-Strike: Source section.
Removed some depreciated commands.
Added and adjusted command descriptions and warnings.
Added Alien Swarm only commands.
Screenshots?
Let's stop saying screenshots before the thread is over run with them. Why do you even add ones that "greatly lower FPS"? I only use these
mat_software_aa_quality 1 mat_software_aa_strength 1 mat_software_aa_strength_vgui 1 mat_software_aa_blur_one_pixel_lines 0.5 mat_software_aa_edge_threshold 1.4 mp_usehwmmodels 1 mp_usehwmvcds 1 cl_new_impact_effects 1 cl_burninggibs 1 bind f +use jpeg_quality 100 bind f5 jpeg

Why do you even add ones that "greatly lower FPS"?
So it will look better?
Still don't know why do you want to upgrade the game to Source 2009, it's the same thing, no graphics update, just achievements and some code changes Source 2006 Source 2007 Source 2009
I hope you realize that Episode Two was never under SRC2006 to begin with
I'm not talking about the games, i'm talking about the graphics
IMO the multithreading commands except maybe for the sound are useless. The default multicore settings are fine.
IMO the multithreading commands except maybe for the sound are useless. The default multicore settings are fine.
These are default disabled and further increase performance ontop of the default multicore setting. There should be no need for screenshots, but I can include some examples of burning gibs (TF2), object motion blur (Alien Swarm), and software AA if you guys want.
Why do you even add ones that "greatly lower FPS"?
Because this config is about quality & performance.
I was unaware it could do the per-object stuff.

Damn, man. I'm pretty surprised by how good that looks.
Proper coding and Dx10, it does wonders.
If Valve just added some damn per-object motion blur everything would instantly look much better and smoother.
Give me a downloadable .cfg file because the descriptions are annoying to get rid of and people want to see for themselves.
Give me a downloadable .cfg file because the descriptions are annoying to get rid of and people want to see for themselves.
The descriptions are commented, you don't need to remove them.
awesome will be using from now on for tf2! thx alot plz keep your configs updated ive always used them since first release!
The descriptions are commented, you don't need to remove them.
So are some of the unstable commands, Just put up a .cfg file or else this thread is sort of missing the point, Just not for my luxury but for everyone else who is interested.
Here, http://cl.ly/23M3. Don't know how Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-P, Ctrl-S is hard work.
Edit: To OP, some of these are great too http://fakkelbrigade.eu/chris/configs/cfg/moreframes.htm

No real big difference between highest settings and this besides a drop in framerate.
