So, if your a cheap bastard, or just tight on money, you might have looked for free games on steam. So this thread is dedicated to finding those free games, recommending demos, and discuss these games and demos.
There is a rule with the demos, this doesn't apply to the complete games, but with demos, you need to check if it is actually good.
I have found a couple already, but if you find more, just post it here.
Trackmania Nations Forever
Trackmania Nations Forever is a driving game where you can, well, drive around. You get an F-1 racer and try to beat set times on tracks. There are normal races, acrobat races, and multiplayer. I guess this is an ok game, but if your tight on internet usage, you can probably skip this one.

America's Army 3
America's Army 3 (AA3) is a incredibly realistic shooter, helped developed by, well, America's Army. It's an online game, mostly, but there are some Offline training excersises. This is actually pretty good little shooter. I would recommend this one. It's a nice break from all the tacticool going around.
you should mention that AA3 lags like shit
every servers i tried have around 250-300 of latency and everyone has a ping of 300
America's army server lag like shit. Yes.

Alien Swarm
Take Left 4 Dead. Put it in space, subtract zombies, add aliens, subtract 1st-person, add over the top view. There, that sums up Alien swarm pretty good.
Holy Crap, the video is coming!

Welp, there you go, 3 good games to play with. They should keep you company for a while. But it's not over yet! If you see a free steam game, post it in this thread, because, really, who doesn't want to be a cheap bastard when it comes to games?
And if your wondering, "Where's the links?", Just search the name in the steam store.
Played all 3. Got bored of all three after about 30 mins.
Sam and Max 104.
Trackmania is one of the better free games on steam i did'nt like aa3 to be honest.

You killed mah thread!
just copy and paste all the games to this thread and add a short description, no harm done and i think threads here are more viewed then the ones at the steam forum
Rating this thread late because steam forums has had it forever and everyone knows about it.

Excluding you.
I feel like I've played Trackmania before but I didn't know it was on STEAM.

Not only that, there's button-lag. I thought we were passed the days of Clicking your mouse to fire, then the server actually controlling when you shoot. 300 Ping = long ass time for your weapon to actually fire from when you clicked
Uninstalled AA3 after about 5 minutes
Even R6 Raven Shield had an option to toggle where you could click and shoot instantly, but your shots would lag a bit (Like every game that makes any sense ever) or You could click and depending on your ping, your weapon would hesitate to fire, but what You saw was what you got (Fine if you have a 5 ping, but not 80+ )
Trackmania is awesome.
Codename: Gordon. Or whatever the name was.
And don't forget Moonbase Alpha.
everyone knows the best free game is moonbase alpha.

what the fuck
don't diss trackmania.
Also OP is wrong, you don't need internet at all for trackmania, it's a very fun game where it's a lot more than just driving around. it's extremely fun.
Track mania is the only decent one, but it does get boring after awhile.
I'm still playing it after 2 years
Trackmania is fun. I recommend it.
AA3, when I played it, was buggy as fuck. That was almost a year ago, though, so it may have improved.
Have not played Alien Swarm yet. Knowing Valve, it's probably pretty good, but I have not played it yet, so it current exists in a quantum state of suckiness: until I observe it, it is simultaneously both crap and awesome.
Free game = bad game
and no one can disagree :downs:

Alien Swarm was excellent :colbert:
You've missed Codename: Gordon.

Alien Swarm is the only worthy one from OP's list, i have 42 hours on that thing.
AA3 is shit and Trackmania is good only for a few minutes, I liked AA2 though, pretty good game on it's final stages.
i dont think ill get trackmania, but ill get that free sam and max. wipeout is better IMO.
I wish Alien Swarm's camera wasn't so smooth. I want it to bump up and down and stuff.
