• What is up with CS:S?

Seriously. I finally got around to buying the game and I'm just stunned. Not in a good way. So I join a server. By now I already pretty much know the layouts of dust and office and the basic properties of all the guns, through gmod. Joined a "No AWP/Auto" office server because I'd already seen what the AWP can do. First round, I join CT and grab an M4 and attach the silencer because that's what it seems everyone else is doing, must be good for something. I shoot myself through a window on the left side of the map and follow my teammate to this hallway inbetween the two longer hallways. Someone shot at us from the left so I decided I'd try to flank and go right. I round the corner and just after having come around a T strafes out into the hallway as well. I went to look over and try for an upper chest burst, but he headshotted me before I could even get my crosshairs over him much less fire a shot. Thought it was just luck, "Shit happens," I told myself "I'll just try again maybe this time I'll get the lucky shot." Nope. 3 more rounds I played, getting instantly headshotted by a T with an AK-47. Tried switching over to the scout, see if I could get long range headshots where I thought I'd be out of range of these headshot whores. I first stood on the dumpster, nope, headshotted me anyway. Then I stood in the way back with the scout zoomed in twice. Nope, counter sniped with a headshot. Tried moving onto de_dust, gave myself the halfassed excuse it was just a hardcore server (which would not be surprising, as nobody ever spoke a word while I was there). Nope, same shit. Scout'd the instant I walk around a corner. Headshotted by someone who strafes through a door, bunnyhopping all over. Grenade spammed multiple times. It doesn't seem normal! Everywhere else I've played deathmatch it's seemed fair and there hasn't been too much headshot-whoring, spare "that guy" thats probably been spending more time playing the damn game than sleeping and eating. With CS:S it seems like everyone is that "that guy." tl;dr: CS:S is full of tacticlol pros and headshot whores, do any normal people play CS:S? Or am I shit out of luck unless I get better.
You're a little bit late.
Welcome to Counterstrike
It's what you getfor being 6 years late to the game, people way way better than you.
Well yeah I'd heard it was like this but I never imagined it could be this bad.

CS:S is a game of seeing the enemy and hitting them, before they see, react, and hit you. And flashbang spam. Can't forget that.
Play on better servers.
You have to remember how long the game has been out, people know every tactical location of the stock maps like the back of their hands. Playing them in Gmod may teach you the layout but when it comes to actually playing the map on css you will be fucked.
Play on GunGame and MiniGame servers
Well yeah I'd heard it was like this but I never imagined it could be this bad.
Play with bots first, You'll get better over time
I shoot myself through a window
Since when did Counter Strike have personal cannons?
Lol I was the same. I've found strafing, sometimes with 'walk' on is generally the best way to move. Also you shouldn't use the m4 because everyone else does, I started off with the MP5 for it's high RoF. Should try a 24/7 server, 400+ rounds on office trained me so far.
just play gungame until you are good
Also you shouldn't use the m4 because everyone else does, I started off with the MP5 for it's high RoF.
Real men use UMP. :colbert: Also, M4 is a good gun for anyone new - it's pretty accurate, spread is rather small, and silencer let's you make a few extra shots if you're not noticed immediately. Also, one of the best ways to get early kills, is jump out alongside your better teammates. This way, the enemy would have to divert their fire on two of you, and if your teammate is good enough, the enemy will be down quickly or forced into hiding. Rush Paper Room, too.
Also the AK is insanely accurate when burst fired.
That's basically how all my time with CS:S went.
Maybe he's using hax? Like Aimbot or Wallhack?
Also the AK is insanely accurate when burst fired.
It should never have been able to one-shot with a helmet.
Stick with your team mates, don't run around everywhere. If you wanna train to be good at getting headshots, try the FAMAS on burst fire. Remember to aim slightly behind the enemy if they're moving.
I've always wanted to make a mini realism mod for CS:S. Sadly I don't know how.
Stick with your team mates, don't run around everywhere. If you wanna train to be good at getting headshots, try the FAMAS on burst fire. Remember to aim slightly behind the enemy if they're moving.
FAMAS burst fire is horrible. The spread is too high for it to be a precision weapon, the ammocount is too small to pin down the enemy, and the damage is too low to be of any use in ambushes. It would be best used in close combat, where you can try and aim it at the enemy's face. I'd say that he should either continue using M4 or if he wants to learn by challenge, then he should try AUG (Zoom helps, but the bullet spread becomes insane very quickly).
I gave up on vanilla CSS awhile ago, if you ever catch me playing CSS it'll be on zombie mod.
Only thing worse than first time playing CS:S is first time playing Jailbreak. Seriously, I start up, and someone says it's a zombie free-day, and everyone gets killed because he never told us how to do it. It's filled with 13 year olds that abuse their admin powers.

So, you should just follow them with your crosshair and not aim in front of them.

Gungame was fun and I can see myself getting slightly better overtime, seeing as it's respawning and not "haha you're dead now wait another 3 minutes for the game to end" almost every round.
I don't think there is anything worse than jailbreak.
I had one fun round on Jailbreak. One. The rest are filled with triggerhappy CT's, stupid admins, and tons of squeaky voices.
The only people left on CS:S are the "Sup3r Pub St0mpin Pr0z" and a few hackers here and there. I guess you can still find a few normal people on so game mode servers, though.
Maybe CSS isn't your kind of game.
