What I have to say;
Personally, it's become more-or-less a second home for me. The simplicity of the building system is wonderful. It's very easy to pick up, and very fun once you do. The technology may be a bit outdated, sure, but graphics =/= quality, as evidenced by games like Minecraft. If you do try it out, I highly recommend staying at least a month or two. It doesn't have a glorious exterior, but it is quite fun once you've been there for awhile. Also, you will most likely want to get out of the starting point as fast you can. I recommend going to AWTeen.

There are many more things I could put in this thread, but I'm not quite sure where to start.
So, it's essentialy Second Life without the numerous crap bits.
Great.
...Meh. Gonna be lots of yiffing, I can tell already.

None at all, actually. There are a few furries but none are annoying about it.
I used to "play" AW when I was 13, it was my first "online experience"...
Now I'm 20... This thing is still alive ?

It still has a small community.
Why did you put the requirements up there? I doubt anyone would have trouble playing it.

Guys my computer is a couple of years old, it can run GTA IV but I'm not sure about this, it seems pretty demanding. Any idea if I can run it?
I'd try this if free accounts weren't effectively useless.

Welp, that's idiotic.
Welp, that's idiotic.
I agree.
Being citizen is almost like being admin on gmod or something.
Game sucks when you're a tourist, but being a cit is great.
Especially when you have friends with you working on something.
I remember playing this with facepunch before. It was actually quite fun as far as I remember. Also, as a tourist just go to a public building world and go somewhere really far out in a random direction and start building, chances are no one will find it for a long time, more of that i'm sure there are less players now.
Played this when I was like 10 or so for about 3 years.
Made tons of friends, built grand structures, participated in many little things like the premiere of The Thirteenth Floor and The X-Files Movie, played tons of little RPGs and stuff(mostly Pokemon battling), and even ran a world for a while.
Christ, those were great times.

Page filler moreorless. Those are probally outdated anyway.

And yeah, alphaworld is about 3675000 (very rough estimate) meters squared or so, plus AWTeen is 37500 meters orso squared. Really easy to find a secluded spot
to build.
I tried it. The interface really shows it's age and building wasn't simple at all. Second Life has easier building (Still shitty though)
I remember Cryptic3D, I think it was from the same guys. I played it a bit, and builded. Was cool.

This game deserves an award for lifetime.
AWTeen sounds like a stupid world, but it's actually got one of the best selection of models in the universe.
Yes, the main servers are called universes.

AWTeen has the widest selection of models
America and Yellow have the most detailed models
Alphaworld has the most simple models, but is largest.
so yeah.
Would be good if it didn't have such annoying and stupid controls. :saddowns:
Is there any proper way to change them? Not using WASD to move is bad enough, but using something over than the mouse to look up and down, that honestly makes the game too annoying to play.
[editline]10:07PM[/editline]
I dunno, maybe I'm just being stupid.

Can't change them to WASD I'm afraid. Personally, using mouse3 to look around is rather simple.
[editline]04:15PM[/editline]
For most people on here, I reccomend doing this;
[img_thumb]http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/2747/30018654.jpg[/img_thumb]
then after that, Teleport > To > World: AWTeen
Can't change them to WASD I'm afraid. Personally, using mouse3 to look around is rather simple.
Real shame about the WASD. I can see the game is old though, so its a bit more acceptable. But its good with mouse 3. I could see myself liking this game.
I remember trying to play this when I was a kid, I couldn't run it.
Holy shit, this game was my childhood

I remember playing it back when Citizenships were only $20 a year, I was about 8-10 or so, and I made all sorts of things including towns.
Nostalgia.
Wait, how does this work? If you're a tourist, free to play, and you build something, anyone can come in to delete it at anytime? What the fuck?
Or am I reading it wrong.

They can only delete it if they find it, so if you're smart and actually find a secluded spot to build then it'll last quite a long time. My first tourist building from about 2008 is still there.
Most people nowadays don't randomly delete tourist builds anyway.
Yeah it's more or less a scenario where if you built something on an area of land as a tourist, and a citizen comes around and wants to build something there, then he can delete your stuff.
It's kind of a small problem, but this happens even in the worlds that are the size of california. It's never anything major but I've had situations where I am building tunnel complex's but AW doesn't let me build a wall at X coordinate (even if it's underground) because there is already an object there someone else placed on the surface at X coord. If it was placed by a tourist then I can simply delete the object in question and continue.
Haha. I used to play this game when I was 9 or 10. It was fun. I built a Pro-Bush thing with Al Gore in the bathroom mirror and some dude/moderator got upset with me. I told him to screw off and he wanted to report me. It lasted quite a while though!
I was just a tourist however. Good times. Good times.
