Now, this is what I deemed to be the most appropriate section of the forums in which to post my problem so if I'm wrong sue me, but I have come for help. I have just installed CS:S on my new PC after a long time not having played it, only to find that it won't work right. It loads up alright, and all looks well, but I notice that when I click on say, options for example, the sound that comes when you do so stutters and repeats for a few seconds. It does this for anything in the menu that makes a sound and while it is doing so I am incapable of doing anything until it stops fannying around, also when I eventually get to a stage where I am looking at a complete server list, half of the servers I try to connect to give me a server not responding error. I have reinstalled/ redownloaded the game twice now in steam and it has not made a difference, does anyone know what's up with it? Thanks in advance.
Computer specs might help. The server not responding thing might be your network.
Don't have access to my specs atm but I can run Crysis and shit on high settings no problem [editline]11:18PM[/editline] + with regards to servers, I dont have this problem on g mod or any other multiplayer game
if you don't know your specs by heart, you must've gotten a pre-built. Am I right? [sp]prebuilts are overpriced pieces of shit fyi[/sp]
Abit unrelated and also wrong. I shall rate you helpful.
if you don't know your specs by heart, you must've gotten a pre-built. Am I right? [sp]prebuilts are overpriced pieces of shit fyi[/sp]
This. Even if you're using a laptop you should still know your specs. If you're using a prebuilt desktop... You pretty much wasted your money. Anyway, I get the 'servers not responding' issue when I've used up my Internet and am speed limited. Sounds like a network problem.
Unhelpful nerds. I didn't know my specs because I have multiple PC's and was at the time of the post on a bus to work in the early hours of the morning and hadn't quite woken up yet. It wasn't prebuilt but due to budget issues I'm sure it is still what one might call a peice of shit. Anyway, I do know the following: I have Windows XP Pro, 4 Gig of RAM (BUT HURRR DURRR IT CANT USE 4, I know), An ASUS Striker Extreme motherboard, two GeForce 8800 GTX's in SLI mode an intel quad core processor, I understand I may not be accurate with what each component is but I'm hoping this gives you a jist of my setup, if I have missed any important specs out to tell me. Also Team Fortress 2 has the same issues, but any other game besides these two runs fine and without any problems. I'm fairly certain it's not an issue with my machine and it is somethingto do with source or steam, hence my posting it in this section. Oh and there's no network problems either Xenon, other multiplayer games are A-OK If you are going to be unhelpful and sneer at how uninformed you think I am when it comes to computers, kindly stay out of the thread.
