So I decided to pop in good old Ocarina of Time after uncovering it a few hours ago. surprisingly enough this thing works first try. I hear the title music and immediately I nostalgia'd (thats a word right?) I start up the game and see that cinematic with Zelda riding off on the horse and Ganondorf following, stopping in front of Link. Good times. I then realized how much I wished games today were as great as they were back then... Maybe my ideas of great games are tainted by the waves of nostalgia that I had been facing so far. Probably, but still. I have yet to find a game with a plot as intense as the Zelda series. The fact that people today are still speculating the possible chronology of the games is just awesome. So it got me thinking, what other games make me as hard as a rock just by hearing their name? Can you relate to this list of Nostalgia heavy games? Ocarina Of Time. Pokemon Red blue and Yellow (oh hell yes, yellow!) Super Smash bros (original) Pokemon Snapshot (you know you loved this beast of a game) Donkey Kong country Mario Kart 64 Super Mario World What games make you go on that trip down memory lane?
Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons on GBC
Quake II and CnC95 were all I played from when I was 8 to when I was 13.
Its not a game, but the PS1 start up sound takes me back...
Its not a game, but the PS1 start up sound takes me back...
The sega Startup jingle on sega games does me in every time. :P edit: on Dreamcast specifically
Its not a game, but the PS1 start up sound takes me back...
Dwwww-Twoiissh! Booom-booooooom!
Team Buddies, Hogs of War, Crash Bash, CTR. And a lot of PS1 demo discs makes me nostalgic, even the demo discs' menus with the background animations and music make me go all nostalgic!

I fucking loved that game when i was young. It was probably the only game that i mostly played
In what way is nostalgia a curse? :raise:
In what way is nostalgia a curse? :raise:
You end up looking at old games with a different viewpoint other than neutral. For example I loved the pokemon red / blue / yellow games but they were incredibly buggy and the psychic type was totally overpowered. The game was fun but pretty unpolished.
Donkey Kong Country gets me everytime, it's the first game I've ever got, along with the SNES. Infact, I still own the same console and cartridge as I had 15 years ago :v: There's several mores, but this gets me the most
The first time you beat your dad on Worms.. :unsmith: [editline]11:51AM[/editline] Back when dads were cool and played video games. Even my mum played the Myst series or whatever it was.
In what way is nostalgia a curse? :raise:
you own the game but not the means to play it? like you have a copy of a ps1 game but you don't have a ps1/2....
Evil Dead: a Fistful of Boomstick always gives me a nostalgia attack, I wish I still had my PS2 :frown:
This music always gives me chills

Well, i suppose so. Especially on the part with "have game but no mean to play it". I've got several Playstation 1 games and this one Game Boy Colour game, but I don't have a Game Boy/Playstation anymore :saddowns:

Crash motherfucking Bandicoot.
Black and motherfucking white 1. Your people are starving. Oh dear, it appears you are low on wood. Keep sacrificing them for extra power. Your creature has shit in the food supply.
Mechwarrior 4. Played the entire series as a kid making horrendous survival situations with the instant action button. Yesterday I dowloaded Mechwarrior 4: mercenaries again from MekTek and its fucking awesome :science:
Doom 1/2. Oh boy, nostalgia.
Good old Resident Evil on PS1 and other horror games like Silent hill (fyi i hate RE4 and RE5 , completely ruined the story.)

Yoshi's Story. I nostalgia every play through.
Cossacks! Not that old but hell does it remind me of endless games against my older brother. I never won though. :c

RE4 and 5 aren't Resident Evil games for fuck sakes. That plaga shit ruined the whole story and even though the gameplay was awesome, it completly ruined the horror part of the past games.

It was one of the best games I ever played with my console.
Tony Hawk games, the music always gets me. There is that one song that i swear is in every one of the tony hawk games.
Blowing game cartridges and mashing games into the slot takes me back to better times. Oh wait that was absolutely awful.
I will always love the Bomberman games on the N64.(My favorite being "The Second Attack!"). Always.
