Remember The Ship, the source game where you were on a cruise ship, and you were given a random person to kill while another random person was trying to kill you? Well, after The Ship, the developer Outerlight went completely missing for a while, with their website being empty for I think a year. They recently announced this new game called Bloody Good Time, which will be coming to XBLA and Steam sometime this fall. While not a huge amount of info has been released, from what we see so far, this seems to have a similar gameplay style to The Ship, where you play as a bunch of characters described as " B-movie archetypes like the bikini beach babe, the creepy clown, and the super jock." Here is a copy paste of some of the stuff on the ESRB board about it. "This is a first-person shooter in which players compete in a "kill-or-be-killed"-style TV program. Cartoonlike characters use frying pans, golf clubs, barbeque forks, machine guns, flamethrowers, knives, and swords to kill other actors on the TV/movie sets. Characters are often guided by the instructions and prompting of a TV/movie director. As the characters run around various sets, they are rewarded with notoriety, fame, and points for creative kills. Brightly-colored bloodstains sometimes appear when characters are hit; small bloodstains occasionally appear on floors and walls. Players are also assisted by environmental traps (e.g., electric currents, fiery gas explosions, and movable floors), which can kill several characters at once. Guards will occasionally zap characters with tasers for failing to observe in-game rules, such as refraining from killing innocent or non-targeted characters." Seems like it could be really fun. EDIT: Also, judging by the screenshots you will have to eat sleep and go to the bathroom like you did in The Ship, which adds to the stress levels as you are vulnerable to be killed by your hunter while you are on the toilet. Sounds EXACTLY like the ship Waiting BTW THe ship is still alive , so dont say "remember"
dat hips. Looks like a fun game, anywho.
I hope they make homage to "the ship" by having a ship movie set.
Dat swimsuit
Sucks that the game has needs like The Ship, that was one of my major grievances with the previous game.
Sucks that the game has needs like The Ship, that was one of my major grievances with the previous game.
For me, that is what made the game awesome.
For me, that is what made the game awesome.
How are annoying needs awesome? Instead of getting to kill your quarry you're forced to find some stupid potato chips or a bathroom in a very short time or face having a nervous outbreak a meter away from your target. Seems to me that only Sims fans would find that any fun.
After seeing this, I almost immediately bought the Ship. I liked it, but there were barely anyone playing in the servers. :frown:
The Ship is probably my all time favorite game, I hope this is similar, but form what I understood its mainly just random killing, like when they introduced Deathmatch in The Ship. But still, I'll see.
Looks interesting. I'll be on the lookout for a demo and some gameplay videos.
I want to play this. The psychological gameplay of The Ship was really unique. [editline]04:41PM[/editline]
How are annoying needs awesome? Since, not only did you have to make sure your killer wasn't trailing you when you did these actions, the reverse also applied to your target.

Playing the Ship was so much fun. I hope this game comes out sometime soon.
Sounds EXACTLY like the ship Waiting BTW THe ship is still alive , so dont say "remember"
Wait, The Ship on GoldSrc is still alive? Holy fuck I'm so getting it back.
Wait, The Ship on GoldSrc is still alive? Holy fuck I'm so getting it back.
He probably meant the source version.
Aww, no PSN version. :frown:
Aww, no PSN version. :frown:
I think this game will be awesome. I wish The Ship was more popular, maybe this game will be more popular. :saddowns: [editline]05:30PM[/editline] I love the art style of the game :swoon:
Sucks that the game has needs like The Ship, that was one of my major grievances with the previous game.
Those needs were the best. Most of my kills were from people eating or sleeping.
Wow, this game looks gorgeous. I love the cartoony art-style; it's what they were going for for The Ship, yet with tons of great new technology advancements (shaders etc)... I'm so totally picking this up.
He probably meant the source version.
I never bought the source version but when I played it on the free weekend there were only 3 or 4 active servers, so I imagine that their would be maybe 1 or 2 servers with players in them. Also, just tried downloading the Gold Src version, 0 servers, someone from here should start one. I would do it but servers on my computer never work. Anyways, the only thing about Bloody Good Time I'm not sure if I like or not is that it seems like it will be a lot easier to recognize who you are supposed to kill with characters that stand out so much, unless they do something like add a bunch of stunt doubles for each person, which might work.
I'm actually so excited for this game I watched the trailer 3 times. :ohdear: [editline]02:24PM[/editline] Have another screenshot:
Are their any servers still running for The Ship source version? I checked the steam server list thing and it said there were none, I was thinking about buying it.
What ever happened to the Gmod variant of the ship? That was my favorite gamemode for the longest time, Parasite I think it was called? Where 1 person was infected and had to infect or kill off all the humans on a space station.
Holy shit I completely missed this game and disregarded it, but now that I know it's the same people who made The Ship, I want it. How? The only major difference was that it wasn't one person with a target and a person after them, instead it was 1 team versus the other, it was pretty similar otherwise.
How? The only major difference was that it wasn't one person with a target and a person after them, instead it was 1 team versus the other, it was pretty similar otherwise.
Yeah, you could say MW2 is similar too.

All people do is crowd around one tiny area where weapons spawn out of sight of a camera/guard. When people need to eat and sleep and shit, it helps to get them into different areas of the map.
