Okay I know this is probably a silly question, please don't hurt me :ohdear:
I've played and finished HL2 and the two episodes years ago. But never have I played HL. Yeah...I know :saddowns: But I've decided that it's been long overdue and since I already have HL:S, nothing's stopping me.
Still, I want to know whether it would be better to pay $10 to get the original HL.
HL:S comes with HL:DM.
Although it's pretty much dead
Buy the original so you can get great HL1 mods.
HL1 for the mods
The GoldSrc is better because of the mods. Source was a shitty port anyway.
If you want to play old school mods like Afraid of Monsters, Sven Coop, and Heart of Evil then buy HL. But if you're just going for the main story then just play HL:S.
Just pick up the pack with HL, Opposing Force and Blue shift in it. In my opinion I've had more fun with OF than I've had fun with HL1 or HL:S
HL1 Is still a great game though.

This
HL1 so you can play DM with me
HL1
so you enjoy great mods like They Hunger and many more
Half-Life. Half-life: Source has no mod support and doesn't look that great.
Buy the original Half Life then wait for Black Mesa.
Sven Coop alone makes the original worth it.
Like everyone else said: HL for the mods.
Go for regular Half-Life. The Source version is a bit better, but I'd rather have two expansion packs and a shitload of mods than ragdoll physics.
Get regular HL. HL:S may have ragdolls, but the water they put in it makes it look weird.
I'd suggest HL1.
I've heard the AI is worse on HL:source, not sure though.
Don't get the source version, I regret it, missed out on some awesome mods.
Get the Original.
Listen, to me, the person who has stayed with valve for 11 years and has used steam for 7 :v:
I remember getting all the Half-Life saga games (before HL2) for free :smug:
Wait for Black Mesa, Gaurd Duty, and Operation:Black Mesa. Nah I'm kidding just get the pack with all of the originals.
Half-Life, and get the HD pack. So much nicer.
HL for classic memories of a time before fancy lighting and water. A time where models were limited to square fists and water was completely opaque,
I find it kinda crazy that HL1 still costs $10. I thought it was $5. But definitely get HL1 instead of Source.
I played HL1 for the first time 2 years ago, and I was very impressed by the graphics considering it came out in 1998.
Both are good for their own reasons.
HL:S supports garry's mod
For 14 dollars, you can get the Half Life 1 Anthology.
I have both somehow.

The models aren't even that good to pose with.
Would you rather be able to play tons of HL1 mods or toss a scientist ragdoll in Garry's Mod.
Wait for Black Mesa :science:!

Its free.

But yeah, get HL1 original, modding and whatnot.
