Anyone else looking forward to this?
I thought this released ages ago?
The thought of playing Quake on a controller makes me very nearly vomit my internal organs.
a litle bit
but i know most people will play it once and never play it again (unless cheevos are easy)

You don't need an xbox to run that.
port it to ps3 then I will buy it

I think it will do fine. I thought the same about UT3 it the controls were awesome
I'd rather have Quake 1, 2, and there expansions released on XBL.
This is gonna play like Halo CE. Which in remarks of a Quake game, is awful. But just as a game, it could be good.
It won't get big on XBL

Some people back in the Quake days used to play with only a keyboard, although (I think) mouses were starting to be pretty common around Q3.
As a Q3/QL player, this makes me sad.
I'm hoping that that video is just very early beta footage, and that it will actually have proper 1v1 gamemodes with pickups and whatnot.
looks more like a port from quake live rather then a direct Q3 port.
No way would this work with hardcore Quake fans. Anyone who's experienced in Q3 won't be able to do the tricks that require a mouse and keyboard.
Stuff like this

Also, I don't see why anyone wouldn't just play Quake Live instead. It's free and Q3 really doesn't need a good computer to run.

Mouses were common years before Q3 came out. Half-Life came out in 1998, Q3 came out Dec 2 1999.
Wait, doesn't this defeat the whole point of Quake? As in, the twitchy, incredibly precise shooting? The glacial turns of controllers won't translate well at all.

Also, why can't they just call it Quake III: Arena Arcade? It's a fucking port of Quake III: Arena, why can't people use proper numbers in titles nowadays?
I didn't like Arena. At least the new shit that was browser based.

That's what I was thinking when I first heard of it. I've played my fair share of TF2 on the X360, which has no aim assistance, and scout vs scout battles could last quite a while. I also think that Unreal Tournament 3 on the X360 had similar issues, but they didn't stand out as much for some reason. It actually seemed like I could hit people consistently with the rail gun.

:eng101:
also god damn those menus are exactly the same as the ones in UT3
it's ridiculous that they bring it out now. it's way too late. they announced it in 2008 when people might've cared
This will be hilarious when you compare PC gameplay with 360 gameplay.
Remember when Quake 3 was released for PS2? No? That's because it flopped so fucking hard.
Nice.
Oh my god watching this gameplay is so painful.
That game play was sooooo bad.

No matter what you do to a console sticks sensitivity, you'll never be able to do this kind of stuff with a joypad...

Incredibly twitchy and utterly inaccurate turns then.
why not play quake live
I would say "Because it's on Xbox," But pretty much any computer out there can play Quake Live.
I don't even see how Quake Arena would work on Xbox with how fast paced it is.
Rated funny.
There's no way I'm playing Quake with an xbox controller.
