That's right folks, Evil_Toaster's favorite FPS is finally getting the sequel it deserves. [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIvrTSfnRS8[/hd] Other than this trailer showing some new weapons, vehicles, improved graphics, and a heavy mech slamming another heavy mech to the ground, there is not much to speak of yet other than SECTION FUCKING 8 GETTING A FUCKING SEQUEL HOLY GOD DAMN I am going to do my very best to get as involved with development as I can. I will not let this game be bad. Section 8 is the best multiplayer FPS made to date (I am very confident about that) and I can't not see it getting worse from here. So get fucking hype. Section 8: Prejudice.

Section 8 is the worst multiplayer FPS I've played. But I'm glad people who enjoyed it are getting more.
Was fun, wasn't the best though
Section 8 is the worst multiplayer FPS I've played.
Sorry sir but your opinion is wrong.
I'm pretty surprised they're making a sequel. I found the first one to be very fun, even though I only played the demo. After it was released, I heard that it's multiplayer population dropped pretty quickly, so I wasn't sure if they were going to make another one or just drop the series. Anyways, I can't wait to get my hands on a playable demo.
How?
Spamming shit idea threads on some forum, probably.
How?
I've played S8 since beta and I know a lot about the game, and video games in general. I'm gonna try to get in contact with the devs and of course be active on the timegate forums (as said above) I really want this game to be good, more than any other game at this point. So I'm gonna do what I can.
Am I the only getting the feeling that the OP is very self-centered, and arrogant?
Looks like a crysis mod(?)
Section 8 is the worst multiplayer FPS I've played. But I'm glad people who enjoyed it are getting more.
So why did you find it bad?
Am I the only getting the feeling that the OP is very self-centered, and arrogant?
A lot of people think that, but rest assured I know what I'm talking about.
Looks like a crysis mod(?)
Because it has robotic suits? Last I checked Crysis didn't invent robotic suits.
A lot of people think that, but rest assured I know what I'm talking about.
If the game is so good why isn't is so popular. :riker: (I liked S8 for that matter)
Because it was released in the shadow of multiple larger releases and had basically no advertising
Bought it a couple of days after release, was mind numbingly boring.
Bought it a couple of days after release, was mind numbingly boring.
How so? Seriously, just "it was bad" or "it was boring" or "I didn't like it" is very frustrating to listen to when you present no reasons for saying so.
Horribly generic design, incredibly inaccurate weapons made it seem quite random who got who and the jetpacks were so disappointing. I was expect something like Tribes 2.
Game was okay, but definitely not the greatest multiplayer game.
Horribly generic design, incredibly inaccurate weapons made it seem quite random who got who and the jetpacks were so disappointing. I was expect something like Tribes 2.
Generic design? What? And weapons were incredibly accurate, on top of the awesome lock-on system. Section 8 is the least random feeling multiplayer FPS ever, I get the feeling you didn't take the time to adjust yourself to its different style. Oh, and expectations. Expectations killed Section 8, I think. People see robotic suits, they think Halo and it's nothing like Halo. At all. People hear jetpacks and assume Tribes clone, but it only has passing resemblances to Tribes. People see control-point gameplay and assume that it's a Battlefield-style game, but, again, it's only similar to Battlefield on a superficial level. You need to approach the game as an evolution or rethinking of several already-established gameplay traditions rather than a clone of some other game.
Horribly generic design, incredibly inaccurate weapons made it seem quite random who got who and the jetpacks were so disappointing. I was expect something like Tribes 2.
The design is far from generic. The customization system is extremely flexible with playstyles, dynamic command missions made every match different, mobility was almost never an issue with the ability to run at high speeds, dropping anywhere on the map made the game even from the start of the game, so many design choices that make the game incredibly unique. You have fucking lock on so weapons aren't inaccurate at all. And it is not random who kills who because one random shot will not kill you in S8. And the jetpacks work perfectly. I really don't think you know what you're talking about. [editline]05:38PM[/editline]
Game was okay, but definitely not the greatest multiplayer game.
I can't think of a better one. At least not a better multiplayer FPS.
I might not remember it right, but I do remember that it was boring as fuck.
I can't think of a better one. At least not a better multiplayer FPS.
I can. But its all subjective.
Section 8 was the most underrated game of this generation
I liked Section 8, the ideas were great and it made a really fun casual multiplayer FPS. But at the heart of it, to make a truly great FPS last a long time, the shooting itself has to be really satisfying, and I just didn't get that with Section 8, the guns felt weak since every player had a huge amount of health, and I just don't like that.

There is a very good reason why everyone has huge amounts of health and it is because of this fights between two players feel like a real fight. It's not supposed to feel like "yeah I can kill everyone in one shot I'm so powerful blat blat." It's supposed to feel like you're competition against someone and fighting them with guns. That never happens in any other game (except quake, as far as I know of) [editline]06:15PM[/editline]
Section 8 was the most underrated game of this generation
I completely agree. At least Psychonauts got recognition and even people who never play it say it's good. With S8 not only did no one play it, everyone said it was crap without knowing what the game is really about. It's a cryin' shame.

This is an intelligent post, even if I don't agree with it. Notice how he doesn't just say "it was bad because I said so." About the huge amounts of health, though: I found the initially absurd amounts of health to be one of the best design choices ever. Unlike in, say, Bad Company 2 (one of the worst multiplayer shooters ever), gameplay isn't a matter of who sees who first; it's an actual contest of skill and ability to maneuver. Of course, you could also play the way I do and rape opponents with the machine gun. It ate through entire life bars in seconds, but required significant skill in maneuvering as it only worked at exceedingly close range. Getting killed by the machine gun, however, never felt frustrating, simply because it was so easy to counter: retreat. Calling the game a "casual" FPS makes me chuckle a little, too. It had (and still has, actually) a hugely dedicated fanbase, small as it may be. There's an unbelievable amount of depth in the game that makes it pretty much the opposite of casual. [editline]08:18PM[/editline] :downsbravo:
Community size doesn't dictate if the game is "casual" or not, but rather how it plays. It's casual BECAUSE of the huge amounts of health, along with the garuntee of never getting killed instantly; You can be the worse player in the world and still do reasonably well thanks to this. That is casual. Hardcore, on the otherhand, is kill-or-be-killed. If you're seen first, you're dead. No questions asked. That's hardcore. Just pointing out a little flaw you had there.
The game was ok but it didn't go any further then renting it for me. It felt too much like a mixture of Battlefield 2142 and Halo.
