Reddit Public PVE Server: Am I being unreasonable?

So a friend of mine tells me about this awesome huge server that can be connected to at p.nerd.nu and has me join. We build a small town together and just start to get people interested when it's announced that the large map will be resetting. At first I was upset, then I got thinking about the possibilities. I get myself all riled up and post this thread on the discussion board for the server: http://nerd.nu/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/1857/kamennyigrad-a-city-for-the-everyman
The people there for the most part ignore me until I try to elaborate a bit. I even post a map to help explain, and finally a moderator steps in with some vague concerns. I ask him what he means and he says some rude things. I say that they were uncalled for, and then the whole forum steps up to put me in my place. I'm reaching the end of my rope here, and I'm looking for reassurance. Am I being unreasonable with these people or are they just on a lynch mob bandwagon because a new user got disrespected by an admin?

No, they are mad because you are pretty much a guest in their community and tell them how they should run their own server.
Also, it's a bad idea.

How have I told them how to run their server? I described how I would run my own town in the server (the PVE map is filled with the things,) asked their opinions, and dealt with some uncalled-for disrespect.
I didn't really see disrespect, seemed like they brought up valid points. I'm not saying its a terrible idea but it is there server. They have probably seen plans like that go up in flames many times. Most people after starting a plan to do something that large of a scale lose steam and the plan ends up getting trashed. Although their negative input shouldn't stop you from doing something that you think will work, It's not like you need their approval.

It also seemed like you were overreacting to some of the replies.
