• "The Hattening" - Do you agree with how Valve is going currently with DotA2?

[t]http://i.imgur.com/MV5vlja.jpg[/t] (Sure, it's satirical) How do you feel about how Valve is suddenly going with DOTA2? They're adding ridiculous sets currently (wtf are those Brazillian Carnaval QoP sets)? Yet the bug list is literally over one-thousand long and heroes are starting to come out alarmingly slow. Sure, the TI3 is great, but it feels like Valve has figured "the game is big enough and is growing on its own, lets focus on making money and fuck the integrity of the game". Because fuck if those QoP sets (and that Pampers(c) Void set for instance) don't look ridiculous.
If they were making hats instead of fixing bugs maybe I'd care but those two things are in no way related so I really don't give a single shit
You know, Valve isn't the only MOBA developer that does cosmetics. LoL and HoN are known for their skins and packs.
Is there an option in Dota 2 to disable cosmetic items?
You know, Valve isn't the only MOBA developer that does cosmetics. LoL and HoN are known for their skins and packs.
What I dislike is how Valve started with "Cosmetics must adhere to the DOTA2 atmosphere and the hero itself!", but obviously they saw the fat $$ coming in and just add anything half-decent graphically (like those dumb-shit QoP sets). Great out-sourcing though.
Cosmetics don't bother me one bit. As long as I can tell who I'm up against at first glance, I'll be fine.
the fact that they're shipping, for the most part, VERY sub-par sets/items in general as opposed to shipping heroes into -CM for, you know, THE BIGGEST DOTA2 TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR, is quite a cop jout you literally don't even need to do any work to port heroes in as well - then you can say 'hurr balance' which is legit, but usually you will get to mother fucking decide what to do to the heroes in order for them to get into -CM my fucking god.
valve don't say who gets in CM though, icefrog does
It would also be ill advised to suddenly throw more heroes into the pool this close to TI3. It should have been done sooner if they were at all ready.
http://www.dota2.com/store/itemdetails/10144/ Doto Fortress 2
It would also be ill advised to suddenly throw more heroes into the pool this close to TI3. It should have been done sooner if they were at all ready.
that's exactly the point - it would be dumb to do it now for the reason you stated icefraud is trolling us so hard, he releases the patch literally as soon as the qualifiers end, which took MORE heroes out of the pool! and he hasn't even put them back in! sweet jesus have mercy
It's not like Huskar or Medusa were ever going to get picked.
http://www.dota2.com/store/itemdetails/10144/ Doto Fortress 2
Um. What part of this is TF2?
Um. What part of this is TF2?
The fact that TF2 became some wack-fest with the weirdest shit which made no sense to be in the game. Valve said they wouldn't go outside immersion, but some weird... I don't even know what that is. What the shit? Also that retarded Kunkka helmet is too much.
uh, just my opinion, but Deathripper doesn't really look that out of place. It looks like some contraption on the Dire side.
It's not like Huskar or Medusa were ever going to get picked.
They would probably be picked half of the games, just saying. Troll would be picked constantly and Centaur a good bunch, Titan would also be picked up a lot. [editline]27th July 2013[/editline]
valve don't say who gets in CM though, icefrog does
Icefrog is a Valve employee so Valve decides who's in CM.
Icefrog is a Valve employee so Valve decides who's in CM.
yeah, but I doubt Valve have that great of an influence over what Icefrog does with the balancing though, asides the occasional suggestion. It just seems like they hired him and he does what's he's been doing previously.
It's not like Huskar or Medusa were ever going to get picked.
it's ti3 there's a fair bit of money up for grabs do you really think the players wont utilise every single hero possible for pocket strats and whack ass combos?
uh, just my opinion, but Deathripper doesn't really look that out of place. It looks like some contraption on the Dire side.
i thought it was a courier version of Gruul (that grey disruptor mount) - needless to say i didnt (and still dont) know the reference that courier is making, not that I really care to be honest
They would probably be picked half of the games, just saying. Troll would be picked constantly and Centaur a good bunch, Titan would also be picked up a lot.
They wouldn't have been picked if they had been unchanged which would make them not be removed from CM.
They wouldn't have been picked if they had been unchanged which would make them not be removed from CM.
do you play the game, orrrrrrrr.. your post also made little sense as well
IF changes Huskar and Medusa a lot -> removes them from CM in case it's too good. Huskar and Medusa are unchanged -> not removed from CM -> won't be picked at TI3 anyway because Huskar was utter shit and Medusa doesn't fit in the meta in any circumstance.
Icefrog is a Valve employee so Valve decides who's in CM.
Look at the weapon balancing in TF2. In a recent (im)balance patch they added a downside to a weapon who's primary upside only helps you if you take damage that increases the damage you take.... Now look at Dota 2's balancing. Tell me that Valve are dumb enough to try and tell Icefrog who is and isn't balanced enough to be in CM. On topic, calm down. Every time a new cosmetic set is added someone doesn't like it. This is natural, but that person doesn't need to immediatly freak out that the artstyle is going to be ruined because a few items they don't like were added.
it's already too late. the cowboy ursa set is the most prime example of the dilution of quality.. all in the name of profits. i would have HAPPILY paid cash money if it meant we kept all this literal cosmetic shit out of this game.
I really don't mind cosmetic items much, as long as they're not giant, flashy particle-ridden mish-mashes that just yell "HEY, ATTACK ME, NOT THEM! I'M ~SPECIAL!~" Couriers i can live with, you only really see those when you're having something delivered to you. I will agree that new Kunkka hat is TF2-grade, though. Ech.

A lot of the stuff they just added looks like half assed sets that just got in cause people will buy it anyway. That new nyx set is disgusting and embarrases work like the hidden hive set. Can you even tell when someone uses spiked carapice with shit poking out everywhere? He's supposed to be an armored scarab and that set doesn't have a single scraping of armor.

This update is seriously enough for me to consider quitting the item concepting business. What's the point of trying when all of your stuff is going to be ignored in favor of some truly ugly things?
[t]http://media.steampowered.com/apps/570/icons/econ/sets/dota_item_alpha_predator_set_large.787b5b549ece9dab88d9ae438e243acd0bfe9484.png[/t]
So Nyx is Bristleback now?
That QoP set is depressingly disgusting, that's not even a dagger, what the fuck. TA and Nyx finally gets some new items and they're both awful.
