Trying to get someone onto steam, but hes having problems getting friends added. - Games

Sup everyone. I've got someone to get Steam, but I can't get him to add friends (it comes up with some thing saying [quote]Some features of the steam community become availible once you have added a game to you're steam account[/quote] I told him to download Alien Swarm, and then try. He says and showed me that it still comes up with that. Is there something I'm doing wrong? It's rare that I do this thing for people that have just joined Steam :v: This is a mutual friend, by the way. (He also plays on the XBox, and yes, he plays Call of Duty)

You need to buy a game to be able to get steam features since that's the only reason why you would want to use steam.

Actaully, last year I was able to add a friend who only downloaded Steam to talk to me.

He can't add people, but if you add him you can chat and all that.

Explaining to new people how to navigate Steam is always so difficult. Especially with my shitty "explanation skills" and when you're doing it over chat instead of IRL. I don't know why it's so fucking hard to get everything working properly though, Steam is usually so simple...

I've been through this before.[/QUOTE] Yeah but steam has also changed some themes in the past year, so some stuff has been moved around and some stuff edited, so it's not going to be as easy as it used to be to sign someone onto steam because the rules of the game have changed a little.

Buy something small for him, you'll solve the chat problem and your friend will like you better! :buddy:

Buy him like HL2DM or Audiosurf or something Steam's main goal is supporting, adding features to and adding a platform for the PC gamer community, so why don't give him a game, the epicenter of gaming?
