Why in the hell would you do that? it's a waste of money. I'm not your financial advisor though, so you do whatever you please, but if you are going to do it just for that then get a used one.
Considering a lot of used units tend to have problems or are on the verge of death, I'd say new is the best choice.
If you're going to resell it when you're done though, don't even bother getting one.

Why would you resell it? Huge loss of money. I never buy used consoles, they always break down or have serious problems.

Personally I think you are wasting money in general if you just want to play all the Halo games and that's all. Go buy a PS3 or something.
It doesn't matter how much you buy it for, really, if you're just going to resell it. If you get it used, the most important rule is to sell it back into the cycle for the same price you bought it for. You will never be able to match the price if you buy one new.

Old ones seems to break alot more easily, and the most used ones you will find around is probably refurbished original 360. Just buy the new slim ones.

The last thing you want is to buy an old Xbox. Get the red ring of death and then have no warranty. Better off loosing a bit by reselling a new one then loosing a lot by not being able to sell an old one at all.

If u have a ps3 already its just a waste of money, check some gameplay videos or something instead, i know its not as fun as actualy playing it but you save like 200$ - 300$ (games cost too)
