I know this post is a bit dumb and probably a repeat, but it really bugs me.
In today's modding and indie community we see many remakes of great games that add new features that weren't possible at the time like online play, physics, etc. But out of all the remakes I've seen there hasn't been a single one that resembles the great Timesplitters 2.
I thought of this when I was browsing the internet and came across a TS wikia. After seeing the game cover and a few screen shots, my brain exploded with nostalgia. You would probably feel it too, I'm not the only one that spent countless hours on this classic.
Timesplitters 2 didn't have much advanced stuff, it was a pretty basic game (feature wise), which looking at a lot of mods, a lot of people could recreate them. Timesplitters was a console only game, it had a pretty limited map editor and the network play was very much limited. The AI was pretty stupid and the campaign was linear.
If there is anyone reading this who is thinking of starting a new project, I highly recommend you do a remake of TS2, I don't care if it's only the campaign or if it's only the multiplayer, it would kick so much ass.
Why don't you start one then if you care so much?
I fucking loved TS2 and Future Perfect. Bloody awesome games.
TimeSplitters series were the best FPS on console...
With the current technology they could make a freaking great multiplayer game. :saddowns:
Its probably because Timesplitters as a whole was not super popular. It is kinda odd that in theory any of the Timesplitters games could be recreated as a mod or something, yet people seem to go for stuff like "N64 game here" Source and the like(though I think none of those have really made any progress).
Ya never know though. With this age of "system here" arcade/network/virtual console, maybe someday the Timesplitter series will be spruced up and made available for more people to discover.

I would if I had any skill in anything.
I prefered TS3:FP, but that's just me.
But yes, it really needs a remake.
There were some rumors of TS4, but then the company became Crytek UK (I think) and everyone thought it was cancelled. But then I think there were more hints at them still making it.
PS my memory is very bad and should not be trusted as a source of information.
I just hope Free Radical (now owned by Crytek which means they could use the Cry engine) makes Timesplitters 4.
BTW, is there something wrong with me if I don't like Perfect Dark? I loved Goldeneye 007, but I just can't get into Perfect Dark. Maybe I need to play the Nintendo 64 version.

Are you talking about the horrible Perfect Dark(2005?) for 360, or the remake?
I remember playing 4-player-splitscreen on Perfect Dark 64 at a friends' house when I was like 9 or something. Very good times, very fun game. I didn't play the singleplayer.
Timesplitters on CryEngine would be to die for.
Guys there is a Timesplitters mod being made.
God no, if they remade it they'd probably remake it for the fuckin' wii
Free Radical is doing Crysis 2 right now. One can only hope that they start a new TS game next.
Didn't Crytek UK file a new patent for something timesplitters related in the last few months
Hopefully Crytek makes the next Time Splitters game soon, Future Perfect was amazing.

Yeah, they filed a trademark registration on the name "Time Splitters Future Perfect". They could just be reacquiring the name that Free Radical once owned, or it could point to a new Future Perfect game.
After Free Radical were hired by Crytek UK they said they would make another Timesplitters game if that was what the market demanded.

Unlikely, it's in Crytek's hands.

Could you link to it? The only one I am aware of is a Timesplitters gamemode for GMod.
Also I would like to add that TS2 and FP both supported LAN of up to 16(?) players. It is possible to now play it using a LAN tunneling program called Xlink Kai (Which I believe allows cross platform gaming, so you could play PS2 to Xbox to GC.)
I would agree to a Future Perfect Remake, it was a amazing game.
TS2 was worlds better than Future Perfect gameplay wise but FP did have its merits.
The second game will always hold a special place in my heart though. I probably will never see a gamemode as good as Virus ever again.

virus was fucking amazing, I was so happy when I found out about zombie mod for css cause it reminded me of it.
Loved the zombie missions on everyone.

I'm talking about the Xbox Live Arcade remake of Future Perfect. I just can't get into it for some reason. The graphics or frame rate makes me feel dizzy sick. Also, the aiming reticule is kind of hard for me to see.
Timesplitters 2 blew my mind. I'd be stoked to see a TS2 mod in the works.
Remakes?
Where the fuck is TS4?
UK devs always make the best games.
:britain:
I liked TS2 except for the stealth missions. Those made me want to strangle someone.

NeoTokyo :argh:
Indeed, :argh:
For some reason I always did really good on the stealth missions. When my buddy and I played TS2 on the hardest difficulty he would always sit back while I did the stealth. I remember the robotics level, I think it was after NeoTokyo, finally got us stuck and we never did finish it on the hardest difficulty.

oh yeah, probably considering they have to be renewed after 5 years
