Theory for Portal 2 here. I hope among all theorists and recent ARG participants I won't have to be marked as Late!
So: ahead of Portal 2 SP, Chapter 1: The Courtesy Call, you are told by a Cave Johnson voiceover your daily instructional exercise and smooth jazz. I haven't paid attention too much to the Lab Rat comic, but at the end(from memory) Chell was placed in deep sleep at last. When you are told by Cave to go to bed, you wake up at the official beginning of chapter 1 saying "You have been asleep for NINE NINE NINE NINE—etc. days/hours/seconds"

...maybe that is your deep sleep and the transition time from Portal 1 to Portal 2(I know it is many years already, just mentioning another way it is expressed). What does question me is maybe the fact that there is a short amount of time at the very start of the game when it is said. The NINE NINE NINE NINE could just be a system glitch along with the off-air television(after all, [i]it's been a long time[/i].) but discuss this herro/here..

Cave johnson isn't the announcer in the beginning
it's a system glitch and that isn't Cave, it's the announcer.
I guess it doesn't have the exact tone. You know the name of the voice actor? You have proof?

This is dumb. The repeating of nine is probably the system having reached it's maximum recorded amount of time, as it wasn't made to keep people in stasis for hundreds of years, as evidenced by Wheatley's dialog.

We know Chell was put into some sort of stasis, which is why she didn't age, at all.
Look at the test chambers. It's filled with vegetation. I've seen bits of pieces of documentaries about what happens after life goes away on Earth, and I can tell you that it would take hundreds of years for plants to grow like they are in Portal 2.
