This time apparently the password reset system was hacked.

Definitely wouldn't start putting your personal information back into the system. Sony have lost any chance of redeeming the trust they have lost in their customers.
goood god ! why did I go back online to play Mortal Kombat If I lose one penny I will sue the fuck out of sony
WE BETTER GET PORTAL2 and DUKEM NUKEM FOR FREE ! (or at least Free PSN Money that could buy the games)
Ain't that a kick in the head. Oh well, more free games.
Well fuck.

Also fuck off hackers
We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.
Consumers who haven’t reset their passwords for PSN are still encouraged to do so directly on their PS3. Otherwise, they can continue to do so via the website as soon as we bring that site back up.
It wasn't a hack. :colbert:
I'm glad to say this everytime something like this happens to console users.

Not convinced, looking at Sony's track record and the fact they admitted there was a URL exploit, I think they're lying to save their asses again.

They have nothing to lie about. It's not like this was a major attack, it was a small exploit which was fixed shortly after it was discovered.

If there was a URL exploit (such as replacing the parameters with someone elses address or something), then that is a design flaw, easy to fix, easy to find. It is hardly a "hack", more a tiny exploit.
Which shouldn't have been allowed to happen..
One would assume they are doing their very best to ensure their system is secure now, to avoid further embarisment. Yet mistakes are still obviously being made.

Exactly, they spent all that time with the networking down fixing shit and still there is simple exploits like that. Ridiculous is an understatement.
...So right now probably wouldn't be the best time to buy a Ps3. I want to play Little Big Planet 2. :saddowns:

One last thing:Before you go posting some random article, SEARCH FOR GOD DAMN CONFIRMING SOURCES! FP needs a fundamental change where we actually start posting sources for information before actually making arguments or posting articles like retards.
"hey guys you know when we had to shut down PSN before, well how about we just add a 1 to the end of all our super important passwords 'n shit..."

You realize there's a thread dedicated for info on stuff like this already, right?
You also realize you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about or just posted, and are busy fear mongering like the console fanboy you are, right? This "issue" was resolved like almost a day ago already.

Well I'm not following this too closely, I don't even own a console. I just read playstation blog post confirming exploit (that seems like a credible source no?).
Now regardless of whether blame actually lies with Sony in regards to the original leak, I think they have a lot to prove to the public and a lot of trust to regain. And for this reason, were I in Sony's shoes, I know I would want to make sure the recovery process was absolutely watertight.
It obviously wasn't. The fact that Sony could leave quite such a hole in their security at this stage really is something.

Are you like fucking 8 or something? I don't think Sony will spend 9.22 billion dollars on their customers for 2 games.
Today its mark 31 days to the Outage.

Also last time I checked most games are not more than 1 player local anymore. Where did those times go?
They just bought only the controllers and pointed them at the TV hoping it would do something.
That's why the first support question for Xbox is "Is it plugged in?"

They bought those cheap knock off controllers that have games on them and pointed them at the TV.
