Wait what is griefing?
Why I'm glad you asked! Griefing is a sport in which players of online computer games try to agrivate their team mates in many colourful ways! These can range from team attacking, haxing, raiding (Get a bunch of people to join an inocent server and wreck havoc) and mic spamming.(This is usually only done in source games)
Wow, that sounds really lame. I bet only no life losers do it.
AHA! You have just fallen trap to what the griefers want! A reaction! The main reason griefers troll is to get a reaction. This can range from "wow ur gay" to "OH FOR FUCK SAKE I BET YOU HAVEN'T EVEN HAD SEX YOU NO LIFE LOSER"
How long has griefing been around?
Just about since the dawn of multiplayer. When people from all over the world could connect, you could piss them off. I think it was popularised with Ultimia online, with the killing of Lord British. Ahem "During the beta test for Ultima Online, a clever player used a scroll of fire field to kill Lord British, who up until that moment had been thought to be an invincible, developer-controlled lord of the realm."
What games are good for griefing.
Just about any competitive multiplayer game, like Counter Strike, The Battlefield series and the Call Of Duty series. Some games, Like Team Fortress 2, make it hard to grief, with things like friendly fire always turned off. (Unless the server turns it on)
How do I grief?
Use your imagination.

Griefing Stories
So one night I logged into WoW and in Barrens Chat some guy was making Chuck Norris jokes and everyone was laughing like he was the funniest Paladin in the world. I told the guy to shut up because I didn't want to hear his Chuck Norris jokes. He told me "okay, sorry man".
Sucker. I really did want to hear those jokes.
I used to do this in UO way back in the day before they cracked down on body looting in town. Whenever you spoke to another character your speech would appear on screen for everyone to see. So I changed the colour of my speech to the blood red that would automatically appear whenever you attacked another player outside of town.
Basically my character would just be running around in town saying PlayerXXX is attacking you To the naive other person they would actually think they were being attacked then proceed to attack you. They would end up getting killed by the guards because they wound up being the aggressors.
Looted sooo much stuff from this trick. If any of you fell for this.....I'm sorry. But man did I get paid.

In World of Warcraft, I followed a low-level character (a Warlock) with my high-level Rogue. The only item I had equipped was the weakest dagger in the game, and it was in my off-hand, so as not to kill them.
I then proceeded to apply Crippling Poison (slows movement speed drastically) and Mind-numbing (slows casting speed drastically) with a move called Shiv, and keep these debuffs applied for extremely long periods of time. This would essentially force them to try and quest/level at ultra-slow paces.
Oh get to the point already
The point of this thread is for people to discuss news ways with which to annoy inocent bystanders. Hell, you could even share your griefing stories with us. But one will read them. 'Cuz you're Boring.
Oh, and for education purposes, here's how people trolled before the internet.

Who cares if he's met one of them? Griefing is something that you do for the hell of it, for no good reason and with no predetermined alliances. I think I've been banned from just about every active insurgency server, and I've never actually met any of them.
Don't start turning the exact opposite of professional gaming into the same shit.
I can't grief. I have an overactive concience.
p.s. that video of "trolling before the internet" is dumb because there was internet before 1987.

Griefing big league is way different than competitive gaming. You're all still having fun, but the difference is once you become known and have tenure, a whole new window of opportunity shows itself. Better and less public tools are put in to your hands and you can achieve better things more quickly.
Me? I've been making mathacks and shit since the beginning of time. Hell, I was THE first person to grief Insurgency (I was a beta tester) + I made a huge public apology FOR the dev and testing team when the mod came out. I'm not here to brag -- I'm here to say that smalltime is OK when permitted but if you're going to go off and say "hey here's how to grief" you should at least show the people who are worthwhile. Gorons? pfft. small time.

hahaha honestly for as many times as i have played with him i have never noticed that BUT he does definitely try way hard once he sets his sights on a potential victim and makes a mess.
it's his voice, though. you can try to be calm all you want, but that voice. ugh. so fucking annoying.
Watch out guys we've got a celebrity in this thread, bend over so he can shove his opinion up your arse.
nobody cares about me. what are you talking about?

Whole team on C-130, me as pilot.
"Let's try to fly between these buildings!"
SAMP roleplay servers were also great.
I would steal the big jet, fly to maximum height, then aim at a large gathering of players and jump out.
They would be hit by an empty plane, so they never knew who to ban.
