Title says it all.
Cockpit definitely
Cockpit for sure.
In games like Burnout, the third person view they give you is sort of better so that you can see the goings on around you and not just in front of you, because it's sort of important to winning, but in an actual RACING racing game, cockpit view is definitely the way to go.
In a well done cockpit view, you'd have mirrors to show you what's going on around you. And they wouldn't just be off screen. I'm looking at you, Forza and F1 2010.
Holy crap, I thought most people didn't like the cockpit view. I find that the cockpit view makes the race seem more intense, probably because you feel like you are actually driving (especially with a racing wheel controller)
Depends on the type of racing game, if it's street racing (NFSU onward, Midnight Club), then I prefer a high, far chase camera, but if it's anything else (DiRT, GRID ect) I'll take cockpit. [editline]11:07AM[/editline] Speaking of Midnight Club, I REALLY miss the rear-view (headlight) mirror from MC3 in MCLA
Cockpit or dashboard.
I love the cockpit view but it gives the game more of a challenge and you can't see your surroundings or your vehicle as well, so I'd have to go with original. [editline]10:18AM[/editline] DiRT 2 has an awesome cockpit view and you can even get dashboard toys :v:
Hood view
Problem with the cockpit view is that moving your head is kinda annoying and you don't see much. If controls are at a point where you can move your ingame head with your real head you'll get a muuuuuch better view of the game. Untill then: third person

Well yet it's not commonly implemented therefore not really practical. Touchscreen tables are possible, too, but hard to get.
Third person view :/

I find I can control the car better in the cockpit view
[QUOTE=Fijgum;25129082]Well yet it's not commonly implemented therefore not really practical.[/QUOTE] It's been neglected lately. It's got support in Grid, Dirt1+2, LFS, Rfactor, IL2, MS Flight Sim, ArmA, but not in Shift or F1 2010 (sort of).
I got this weird habit while playing racing games. Look back and change views all the time. I think Chesty's going to say this poll dumb.
[QUOTE=lemming77;25129029]Google Naturalpoint TrackIR.[/QUOTE] or better yet, well cheaper, FreeTrack. [editline]02:52PM[/editline] It can work with the TrackIR interface as well, so all games that support TrackIR you can use FreeTrack with, and for alot less. I actually bought a trackir clip pro, got a vx-1000 webcam, opened the webcam, removed the IR filter and put a diskette over the lens. And voila, freetrack!
Cockpit / Interior, or if the game has none (Quite a few don't) then I go with the bumper view.
Mine would behind, a bit above. The reason for that is that i can see how the rear of the car is swinging so i can easily compensate for it in a turn.
use to be just the regular chase camera, then I got need for speed shift, now I prefer cockpit.
Hood view, normally Allows you to see the front of your car and off to the side a bit Track IR + Cockpit is definitely the best way to go though
I prefer Cockpit or Original. But mostly Cockpit.
arcade: outside car semi-arcade: outside or bumper view simulation: cockpit or hood
Mostly, cockpit. But sometimes outside is usefull.
I can't drive in cockpit view, my average lap time becomes 30% longer than with the behind car view.
It's all about immersion - cockpit view.
Cockpit view for most intents and purposes. However, sometimes I get better lap times with a roof or bumper cam, as I can see where my car is in relation to the apex a little easier.
