I installed BF2 and the 1.5 patch. I try to run it, it flickers black for a few seconds, then goes immediately to my desktop with no error message or anything reminiscent of Battlefield 2. Google tells me this is usually the cause of insufficient hardware requirements, but mine are over-sufficient and worked completely fine before I decided to install patch 1.50. Any ideas on how to fix it? Intel Core Duo E8400 (3 GHz) 3.5 gigs of RAM (Win XP SP3) ATI Radeon HD 4870
chuck a hand full of carbon dust into the case
Try reinstalling it
The obligatory update your drivers post.
Updated my drivers, did the same thing. I wouldn't think it was that anyways since it seemed to be fine before I installed the patch. Reinstalling didn't work either.
Any error message or log left behind. If so, please post the Error log. I can help you from there.
Run as admin and turn off UAC. Also update PunkBuster [editline]13th October 2010[/editline]
Any error message or log left behind. If so, please post the Error log. I can help you from there.
Why don't people read? He said there were no errors.

This sounds like what was happening to my friend, his refresh rate on his monitor is 75 and the game was trying to run it at 60.
This fixed it for me, when I had that problem a while back, and it also allows you to skip a few of the intros.
To do so, go to this directory: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies And either delete or move the movies there to another folder, leaving only menu.bik and menu_loggedin.bik behind.

:irony:
I thought they added UAC in SP3. I haven't used XP in years.
Well what the fuck. I tried the movie folder trick, didn't do anything. I couldn't find any error logs anywhere. I checked and apparently my monitor was set to 60Hz, but I set it to 75 and it still didn't do anything. [editline]13th October 2010[/editline] 65 70 and 75Hz; all did the same thing [editline]13th October 2010[/editline] Updated Punkbuster as well, didn't do anything
Are you running the latest patch? [editline]7:34PM[/editline] I guess so. Did you install in the right order? IRC, the 1.5 patch only comes in "incremental" flavor.
Well, I fixed it. The problem's irrelevant except that it was caused by the stupidity of myself. Thanks for your help anyways, guys.
