Membership Levels About The Game The game is a MMORPG based off Everquest, one of the most successful MMO's too date. It has updated visuals, content and game play mechanics. EQ2 Has three adventurer packs - The Splitpaw Saga, The Bloodline Chronicles, and The Fallen Dynasty. EQ2 has also 6 expansions to date (verse EQ's 16 expansions) - Desert of Flames, Kindom of Sky, Echoes of Faydwer, Rise of Kunark, The Shadow Odyssey, and Sentinel's Fate. So plenty of content, expansion packs are also released regularly along with updates and new content release. EQII has be "revamped" in a way to make it more new player friendly, it also makes the game less frustrating too. Player Races You have races based on faction/moral standings such as Good, Neutral, and Evil. You have 19 races to pick from such as the following. Drawf The Dwarves are a short, sturdy people created by Brell Serilis, renowned for their bravery and devotion but not so much their intellect. Brash talk and boisterous attitude follow a Dwarf from the field of battle to the tavern hall. Dwarves have long been one of Norrath's strongest races. Dwarves make the most faithful of friends and, should the situation require it, the most tenacious of enemies. Fae Fae are the vivacious heart of the Greater Faydark. Friendly and light-hearted, they enjoy playing tricks on the unwary. Child-like in their superstitions and beliefs as well as highly adept at magical skills. This gives them a sense of humor that is often described as “tricksy.” Froglok Mentally sharp and morally virtuous, the good-natured Frogloks strive to purge villainy and corruption from Norrath. Frogloks were touched by the hand of the god of valor, Mithaniel Marr. They rapidly evolved from short, flimsy amphibians into a race that is both wise of spirit and formidable in battle. Over 400 years ago, their deity blessed them with a heightened intellect and enhanced physical features. Halfling The courageous Halflings are good-natured and friendly, amiable to anyone willing to share a warm meal and a grand tale. Known for their humor, they enjoy mischief and shenanigans. Some view them as objects of physical abuse and ridicule, but Halflings are far from being easy targets. They are quite nimble, a fact belied by their typical appearance. High Elf The fair-skinned high elves embody nobility and wisdom. They are benevolent people who strive for order and discipline, though some consider their stoic nature a sign of arrogance. Their Wood Elf cousins exist chiefly to do their bidding and most other good races are merely tolerated. Evil races, especially their mortal enemies the dark elves, are worthy only of a quick and efficient death. Wood Elf Wood Elves are pleasant and friendly. Fierce protectors of the woodlands, they will do battle with any who dare to taint the purity of nature. Wood Elves love celebration and song, dedicating their lives to the praise of their creator, Tunare. Their welcoming and accepting nature has led to close ties with other races, especially humans. This particular closeness has, in turn, sired the vast majority of the Half Elf race. Barbarian Hearty and strong, Barbarians never back away from a just conflict. Barbarians are loyal companions and unforgiving enemies. They are tall, powerful humanoids, often blessed with great muscle mass. Barbarians are known for wearing their emotions on their sleeves and have no problem with telling someone exactly what they think. They will gladly back up their boasts with a show of force. Erudite Though descended from humans, Erudites eschew all ties to their less intellectual ancestry. Their culture is centered upon the accumulation of arcane knowledge and mystical power. Having chosen this path, the Erudites are usually slight in build compared to humans - a characteristic stemming from their distaste for conventional labor. Erudites consider all other races to be inferior and have no qualms about saying so. Gnome Gnomes make up for their small stature with tenacity and ingenuity. Known for their inquisitive nature, they are constantly tinkering with devices both mystical and technological. This poking around has gotten them into trouble in the past, but their craftiness and intellect has allowed them to survive and prosper despite whatever mischief they might unleash. Half Elf Caught between the cultures of the Elves and Humans, Half Elves have struggled to establish their own society. They are known for their fierce determination and independent spirit. The Half Elves are rebellious which seems to show through in their hair styles and garb. They have grown somewhat rebellious as a result of exile and refer to themselves as Ayr'Dal, a term derived from the old elven word for "misfit." Human Sometimes wise and sometimes foolish, humans are capable of both remarkable ingenuity and startling brutality. Humans are diverse in nearly every aspect of their abilities and culture. They possess a wide range of physical features, and their values and principles are equally varied. Capable of both amazing deeds of kindness and thoughtless acts of cruelty, they have risen to prominence among many of the older races. Kerra Kerra worship the spirits of the land and those of their ancestors. Their often docile demeanor masks the fearsome and powerful predators that they are. Kerra are a large humanoid feline race, their bodies covered in fur with colors and patterns denoting their lineage. They are tall and powerful with great agility, their tails able to perform menial tasks almost with minds of their own. Arasai The malicious children of hate and dark magic, Arasai honor their goddess through defiling and torturing the inferior races across Norrath, taking pure pleasure in their cruelty. The Arasai are blindingly loyal to the Teir'Dal Queen Cristanos, whom they worship as a goddess, and are powerful allies to the dark elves. Dark Elf Dark Elves are the embodiment of evil and maliciousness. Sinister, cunning and dangerous, dark elves coolly prey upon the weak and the ignorant. Dark Elves look down upon all other races, but in the past have made use of trolls and ogres as evil pawns. Dark Elves are one of the three known ancient elf races, they are known by the elf word, Teir'Dal, a word meaning "elf of the abyss." They have existed for ages in the dark underworlds of Norrath. Iksar Calculating and cold, the Iksar are a powerful reptilian race whose history is defined by conflict. They are a harsh but disciplined people who delight in cruelty and conquest. The Iksar are a very strong race, well-suited for the physical combat styles of the fighter classes. Their keen intellect allows them to be powerful mages, with a definite emphasis on dark forms of magic. Their cunning nature allows them to be excellent scouts. Ogre Ogres are aggressive brutes who show their opponents neither sympathy nor mercy. Strong and intelligent, their physical might is matched only by their hunger for power. Built for warfare, these hulks long-ago ruled an empire that encompassed most of Norrath. No other race is more physically imposing than the Ogres. Their fat-layered, muscular bodies are covered in thick battle-scarred skin: coarse, bumpy and hideous to most. Ratonga The Ratonga are agile, crafty, and surprisingly charismatic. Little is known of their past. They have a keen perspective and are highly intelligent, but tend to be selfish and manipulative. They prefer to lurk in the shadows and remain unseen; whatever they do is intended to be silent and blend in with the darkness. Though lacking strength, the excellent agility of Ratonga often makes them perfect scouts. Troll Trolls care only about satisfying their hunger for food and lust for battle. Their unpredictable behavior and formidable strength make them fearsome and deadly opponents. Despite their limitations, trolls are not to be underestimated. A particularly savage clan filled with hate, Trolls have daunting strength and stamina, which make them good fighters of any type. Sarnak Bred and magically altered to be the fiercest militia, the Sarnak of Gorowyn can be practical and approachable, but when placed in a combat situation, they are unflinchingly dedicated and vicious. Exiled from their homeland and banished from Norrath’s history, the Sarnak emerge to uncover artifacts long thought lost. http://everquest2.com/gameinfo/races P.S - These pictures are all default pictures and all races/characters can be customized and have their body and facial features changed according to your own taste. Classes As for classes we have 13 main classes which sub divide in too 24 specially classes. For example we have bards as a main class, but you can specialize and become a troubador or dirge. Bards - Troubador or Dirge Clerics - Templar or Inquisitor Druids - Fury or Warden Enchanters - Illusionist or Coercer Monk - Monk or Bruiser Paladin - Paladin Ranger - Ranger Rouge - Swashbuckler, Assassin, Or Brigand Shadowknight - Shadowknight Shamans - Mystic or Defiler Sorcerers - Wizard or Warlock Summoners - Conjuror or Necromancer Warriors - Guardian or Berserker http://everquest2.com/gameinfo/classes Each class complements a certain game play style like all MMO's. We have tanks, dps, support, healers, and other mixes. As you go on through the game you can unlock skill points and apply them to certain trees or skills to become more powerful and even change your role in combat. A huge tip I could give anyone is don't copy someone else skill set because it looks bad ass or works great for them. Because that is the key word, it works FOR THEM. They created the template and know how to use it best, do what you know what is best and you're most comfortable with. The worst thing you can do is change all your skill sets and character set ups because you want to be like that guy who kicked your ass in pvp. Though if you do it, be prepared to learn it and take time doing so. Community and Rewards We have a thing called Veteran Rewards in EQ2 (Most SOE's games has them). It is a system that tracks how long you've had a paid subscription with the game and rewards you accordingly. You get rewards for 1 day active all the way to 72 month currently. As the reward time gets higher the rewards get better and overall more useful. There is also a buddy system like most mmo's now in which you can invite a friend to play a free trial and if he or she subscribes you get a reward, the more people you get to subscribe the better rewards you have. Membership services EQII Extended - Free (Bronze account) EQII Extended - 10.00USD one time free (Silver account) EQII Extended/Standard account - 14.99USD a month (Gold Account) This is the same thing as paying for a regular subscription and basically gives you access to everything - it is full access. EQII Extended - 200USD A year for a platinum account, has its own perks. But not worth it imo. EQII Passport - A economical subscription that costs only 5 dollars a month, but only allows you to play 3 consecutive days. After that you have to upgrade to a standard EQII monthly subscription plan. EQII Marketplace This game also has a fully optional marketplace that you use real money to buy station cash. It is a micro-payments/transaction system that works both with the Extended version of the game and Standard version of the game. It doesn't allow you to buy all your gear and become super uber over night. But it does allow you to buy potions, cosmetic clothing (All characters after a certain level have a cosmetic slot that allows the to use any gear they want without changing their appearance. You can buy things such as services like Character transfers, Housing items, cosmetic pets, potions, equipment and house pets. http://everquest2.com/shop/marketplace Screenshots and Videos If you need more information go to http://everquest2.com/ figured I would share this with everyone seeing as a lot of topics are made about good mmo's that are F2P. You can certainly add this to the list of MMO's that are good and free too play.
So wait, seeing as EQ2 Extended is in Beta does that mean the characters we make during it's beta phase will be wiped? If so, it's a bit unfair asking people to pay during that phase.

No massive download? What is the 4g of space used for then?
4gb isn't massive.
When you have a 100kb/s connection it is.
Fair play. [editline]11:22PM[/editline] Why is it called EQ2 Extended anyway? Isn't it more like EQ2 Reduced?
So wait, seeing as EQ2 Extended is in Beta does that mean the characters we make during it's beta phase will be wiped? If so, it's a bit unfair asking people to pay during that phase.
No there will be no character wipe. It is called Beta atm because it isn't a full launch. No character information will be wiped.
Fair play. [editline]11:22PM[/editline] Why is it called EQ2 Extended anyway? Isn't it more like EQ2 Reduced?
Read the OP.
extended provides access to premium subscription-quality content through free and optional paid membership levels.
It is called Extended because it is free and you have access to most of the content unlike a Free-14 day trial which you have level cap and stuck in a few areas.
So wait, seeing as EQ2 Extended is in Beta does that mean the characters we make during it's beta phase will be wiped? If so, it's a bit unfair asking people to pay during that phase.

After the alpha version of Extended has been tested, EQII Extended will release its new service in a fully-operational, live, beta state with persistent data will carry over into the commercial release. You can purchase items using Station Cash and play the game without losing items, advancement or any purchases when the beta ends. The beta duration has not yet been identified as we want to test out the Marketplace and gameplay mechanics as much as possible. SOE is targeting a beta release on or around August 17, 2010.
Answered my own question. [editline]11:25PM[/editline] Ninja'd [editline]11:25PM[/editline] But yeah, I'm going to check it out. I do own the original EQ2 but I don't feel much like paying monthly for it. [editline]11:43PM[/editline] I really like this new streaming client they've got going, not sure when they implemented that but it's cool. [editline]11:47PM[/editline] Holy fucking shit extra races are stupidly overpriced.. 700 station cash (approximately £6) to buy the Gnome race? That's just crazy.
If you read the membership guide you would have saw that you only get four races for free. Though 6 pounds isn't bad if you just want that one race and play though with it.
I did read that I just expected them to be a bit cheaper, and I noticed that the Gnome comes with 2 other races.. Well that's all well and good but wouldn't it be better to just let me pay a cheaper price for one race and then have the option to buy a pack? Also, it crashes whenever I try to make a character v:v:v
what the hell $200 per month for platinum that's $20 more than a full year's worth of gold.
Uh, no. It's $200/year.
what the hell $200 per month for platinum that's $20 more than a full year's worth of gold.
200USD for a platinum account is a yearly subscription that comes with 500SC per month, 10 character spots. That's about it. It comes out to be like 16-17 dollars a month. So you're getting SC at a discounted price. Though only worth it if you know you're going to be playing for a year and have 200 bucks laying around.
They cap your spell tiers? I don't even want to know what that means.
They cap your spell tiers? I don't even want to know what that means.
Your spells go Apprentice, Adept, journeymen, expert, master. It's annoying shit, the higher the tier the more the damage
Your spells go Apprentice, Adept, journeymen, expert, master. It's annoying shit, the higher the tier the more the damage
It's not annoying. It gives you more to work for at the higher levels. Nothing is more satisfying than saving up your money and then upgrading your best spell and seeing the huge increase in damage/healing it does.
Pay more money to get the ability to go up a tier and thus become stronger. Isn't that kinda like what Scientology does?
A friend bought the game for me and two other bros because he's rich as fuck and now we just sit in vent all day and play. It's a hell of a lot of fun. Definitely worth it for anyone on the fence about buying.
This is pretty lame. Restricting levels/tiers of equipment and spells is unfair. I liked LOTRO's way of doing it a lot more.
This is pretty lame. Restricting levels/tiers of equipment and spells is unfair. I liked LOTRO's way of doing it a lot more.
Is LOTRO free now? I know it was going, but when it was announced, it wasn't yet.
The free version is in closed beta.
No it isn't, You can go and download it right now, and play almost immediately since it just downloads what you're needing, and then downloads in the background as you play
No it isn't, You can go and download it right now, and play almost immediately since it just downloads what you're needing, and then downloads in the background as you play

Is LOTRO free now?
It's not annoying. It gives you more to work for at the higher levels. True story. :saddowns:
Do you actually read? I was talking about LOTRO.
Yeah like I could read your mind and know you were talking about lotro in eq2 thread...
He was addressing "TheTalon", not you.
He was addressing "TheTalon", not you.
Why did he quote me then?
everquest subscription here bro.
Yeah like I could read your mind and know you were talking about lotro in eq2 thread...
No but you could read the post DIRECTLY BEFORE MINE talking about LoTRO and somehow deduce that I was replying to him.
Why did he quote me then?
I quoted you before quoting TheTalon's post to make a point to you that I was obviously replying to him. Is this really so hard?
