How do you increase the damage your weapons do in Half-life 1?

I'm tired of it taking half a clip to kill an enemy in half life 1, so i was wondering how i could increase the damage delt by weapons. mainly the MP5, pistol, and shotgun.
thanks.
• Easy
Play on Easy mode, you need it any easier than that and you're just bad at the game.
If you're playing on HL:Source you could change the skill.cfg to your likings in the game folder. Otherwise you could change it to Easy if it isn't set to that.
it is on easy. i was also hoping to increase the damage enemies do to me, but oh well.

Normal mode if you want more damage.
yeah and on hard you do less damage whereas enemies do more damage.
though on hard the shotgun military forces and snipers.. some deadly shit, not to mention alien grunts or even vortigants.
Aim at their heads.

what is this thread

I remember unloading about 15 rounds right into a squad leader's face (at point-blank range) with the assault rifle before he finally died when I first encountered the marines. This was on Easy difficulty.
Needless to say, the marines are quite tough, so I can understand why Magmacow538 wants them a bit weaker.
Magmacow, check the sk_ console commands. There are probably a few that deal with marine health and NPC assault rifle damage in there.
Sadly, i did check the sk commands. nothing. and im not using hl source.
you people also dont seem to understand what i mean either. i want my weapons to do more damage to enemies, and enemies to do more damage to me. basically, i want it more "realistic" so that combat is quicker and you can actually kill enemies without using slightly more ammunition that there exists in the game.
edit: i mean there was sk commands but they didnt work and reset themselves all the bloody time.
I think the sk_ commands only take effect after a map change or a load.
Also, about them resetting themselves, you can put your desired commands in a .cfg under
X:\Program Files (x86 if you're on Windows Vista or 7)\Steam\steamapps\<Your steam account username>\half-life\valve (I think)
and then bind a key to execute it (bind <key> "exec <config's file name>"). Just remember to press that key whenever the commands reset.
For example,
bind INS "exec custom_difficulty"
This would bind Insert to make the game attempt to execute a "custom_difficulty.cfg" in the aforementioned directory. Of course, you can name the config just about whatever you want. Just make sure that the command uses the file's name (minus the .cfg).
Thanks e-102! it worked great!
