I've been looking at the server list for like 2 weeks. No one connects, it seems it's dead right now.
Please try to revive it joining the servers, i miss this awesome mod.
If you don't have it, go get it on http://www.resistanceandliberation.com/ i promise this is a very fun mod.
Downloading it right now! Hope there's EU servers.
I heard they are active in the weekends. Join a realism group in Steam playing it. Im sure they make an announcement when a match starts
There's a group dedicated to informing everyone that there is a match going with 18 or more players.
Edit: Search with this "RnL High Activity Announcer (RnLHAA)"
700 members and pretty reliable on telling you. Though it looks like last time someone informed about a game was in april. Looks like it has been quiet for a while.
Long time since i last played, but the developer twitter is pretty active
Anyone want to play?
Terrible terrible game. Ugg.
Here's the problem with mods that try to be "real" ... they suck. They forget about the fact that games should be fun and not punish players for trying to do things.
Something also to be said about the bad design choices of making giant maps and slow players with low amounts of stamina. So you run run run, wait for stamina bar to go up, run run run, wait for stamina bar, get shot out of nowhere, and repeat.
One of many reasons people dont play that game.

The point is to force you into working with other people in a small group to accomplish an objective. If you've been sprinting out in the open by yourself I think you have the wrong idea.
Also it isn't meant to be something like Team Fortress where anyone can pick it up and play, it's meant to appeal to the audience that likes games to "punish players for trying to do things". I don't know why you bothered with a game that's trying to be realistic when you have a problem with such games, either.

Why would working in a group matter when your objective is halfway across the map and the fastest you can get there is 30-60 seconds?

Okay, why would you even play RnL if you hate the idea of realism.. :v: Did you really expect DODS gameplay when launching the mod, seeing as the main moddb page for it just screams out its genre imho.
It sounds like INS would appeal more to you, seeing as it calls itself a realism mod but is really just run and gun, which sounds like what you're more interested in.

To get across the map in 30 seconds and not die midway.
this game was made by amputee paraplegics who've never even held a gun let alone operated a human body. Seriously it feels like driving a car, and shooting someone 100 feet away is like ridiculously difficult because the sights are tiny and the gun is shaking around constantly for no reason. It's not that hard to aim at stuff in real life

I'm not stupid, I completely understand what they "tried" to do. But, they failed.
The numbers don't lie. If the game was made well, the mod would've had a lot more people playing. And a more timely release holding back for various ridiculous reasons cost them the audience they needed, most importantly the DoD:S audience which is now a mere spec of what it used to be.
Most simply played it once, couldn't find a populated server, or realized how broken it was, thought the player and weapon mechanics were terrible (see RNL forums for many posts saying "fix this") and left it. That's the fact. The game never took off because it was poorly done. Again, say all you want about how good or not it is, the numbers tend to be the decisive evidence.
I also have a little more perspective, as I was an artist on the development team. The developers & programmers were clueless and didn't wanna listen to anyone but themselves. As a result the game suffered. The problem is a lot of what they wanted to do looked good on paper but in practice (or, how THEY coded it) didn't work at all.
Also, speaking as a developer who has worked on several mods now and commercially released games as both a designer and artist, I can tell you flat out that you can try to "force people" how to play but ultimately it becomes a failure when the environments and player mechanics fight you along the way.

This sums up both my opinion and many many others. (See RNL Forums for proof ;))
ZPS has a lot of players, and it's crap. The numbers do lie.

And many of the threads you are talking about are complaints about the numerous glitches. Otherwise, most do not find a problem with it.

Call of Duty
You could actually run and gun in RNL if you knew what to do.
Edit: Some of the controls might have been a bit tedious but the gameplay is great if you get alot of players. You rarely see teamplay in most other team games.
But the gameplay revolves around either side defending/camping a spot or a line and the other team charging their positions or flanking them and this switches on forever. If it's not your thing then ok.
Edit2: oh wait Ese was in the dev team. Haha maybe he got butthurt about something, left and is here to diss on RNL.
3D sound was pretty cool too.
Roger that, downloading!
Okay, what server should we use? I have the lowest ping on 101st Airborne Division Realism Unit - server.

Plus people usually miss their first few shots and you don't die in one hit.

Sounds like a good round of Project Reality
Piss off and cry elsewhere about your dev team woes
