I tried to change the music in the non-source version of Half Life 1 by renaming my music as the correct sound file and then replacing the default one. However when I started the game, the music reset itself to the defaul track and my music wouldn't play.
Anyone know how to replace the music in HL1?
Set the replacement files to read only.
I think HL1 plays tracks from disk drive. At least the old one did.

Well it sort of worked. The first time I tried it setting it to read-only, the music just didn't play at all. After that, I converted it to a wav, set it to 16-bit (CD), 8000 Hz, 1 'Mono', then I converted it back to an mp3 with audacity, and then set it to read-only again. After that, the Music started playing, but it was a bit fucked up. The problem was probably caused when I set the conversion options.
Why would you even do that?

Why would you ask pointless questions instead of attempting to help?
