So this afternoon I decided to install the latest drivers through steam. Big mistake It completely fucked up my system. After installing it through steam I keep getting scvhost error for absolutely no reason then my task manager goes missing ..after that I managed to get my task manager back but I couldn't end any processe with it anymore. I also noticed a significant performence drop after installing. I'm re-installing windows as we speak I strongly advise against using steam driver update..do it the old fashioned way..its much safer
What, steam doesn't install drivers
What, steam doesn't install drivers
As of recently, it can. [editline]08:57PM[/editline] why did you reinstall windows, couldn't you uninstall the drivers
As of recently, it can. [editline]08:57PM[/editline] why did you reinstall windows, couldn't you uninstall the drivers
I did, I even used driver sweeper but I'm guessing something screwd up during the install..
Steam still doesn't install the drivers, it just downloads the latest version from the website and runs it. It is no different than if you were to go to the ATI site and download them yourself.

Basically you got unlucky and are blaming something that simply notified you that you needed new drivers, instead of blaming ati, which released the apparently faulty drivers.
Installed latest ati drivers no problem, had to restart though, no biggie.
might have been the driver then @ManningQB18 Im not blaming anyone, I'm just letting people know my experince and giving my advice against using steam to update
I installed the latest driver using steam once. Steam games worked fine with no issue. But the moment I tried to launch a non-steam game, the engine died out. System Restore put things back to normal.
I remember when Episode 2 first came out, there was a ATi logo on the video options page. But then it vanished a month later. i think something to do with nvidia
I installed the latest ATI drivers through Steam yesterday, haven't had a single problem with it.
