This is my first Thread on this website and I need help.
OK, let me tell you that I am not tech savvy one bit, but i have been trying to fix this "hl2.exe has stopped working" problem. That IS NOT what this is about. I had followed instructions that had F'ed up my laptop. which are the following.
[>>Right click "Computer"
>>Click "Manage"
>>Double click "Users and Groups"
>>Click "Groups"
>>Right click "Administrators"
>>Click "Add to group..."
>>Click "Add"
>>Click "Advanced"
>>Click "Find Now"
>>Double click "Local Service"
>>Click "Ok"
>>"NT Authority\Local Service" should show up in the list now
>>Click "Ok"
>>Close Computer Management and reboot.]
When i rebooted, my log on screen came on and it seemed to be in safe mode becuase it was in a small screen with a border, exept it wasn't really in safe mode. The resolution was just low. I changed it back to the origanl resolution. When I tried to launch Team Fortress 2 the game was also in a small screen. so I changed that back as well.
Now the annoying part. The models are messed up and they are not what they used to be. When I'm playing in game it lags unbelievably. I am sure that this isn't a graphics card issue or a driver update issue. It was working the day before I followed the instructions.

I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS A RULE ABOUT NOT POSTING PROBLEMS ABOUT GAMES HERE. but it isn't about the game it's about how do I reverse this. when I follow the instructions back the thing i changed isn't there.
Any suggestions and help is appreciated thank you.

According to the rules you're in the wrong section and possibly even the wrong forum. We're not Steam support, chances are we are as clueless as you.

Editing it to say that doesn't change anything. I recommend you replace the entire post with "snip" and let the thread die. Just go to another forum and read the rules, they give you suggestions as to where to go.
If you [b]really[/b] want advice from us here I suggest you reinstall the game, it usually fixes problems that aren't caused by hardware.
alright guys i thought it would be good to post "something" i got the same thing in the forums for steam. they're are also clueless. ill leave it up. Might as well ban me right now. I have never been to such stiff forums. I already have reinstalled. I do not think i will be coming back.
