Papers, Please is a work-in-progress game by Lucas Pope. It details the exciting life as an immigrant inspector trying to make his way in glorious Arstotzka.
The game's core mechanics are quite complex. For every immigrant requesting access through the border, you must check their passport, their ID, their ticket, and/or their work papers and ensure that there are no mistakes. Mistakes can be as obvious as a fake passport, or they can be as subtle as a slightly different passport number. Either way, you must be on the lookout for these fakers. Failure to catch these immigrant scum can lead to penalties, ranging from a pay deduction to (?).

I never thought that a game about being a border document inspector would be this entertaining. Just goes to show you can turn almost anything into a game.

The day ends when you're done working. If you've got someone in the checkpoint past 6pm while everyone is leaving, you still have to finish with them. If you're impatient, just deny them entry! :v:

Just finished the beta, it was surprisingly fun. I like the bits where you can [sp]split up a married couple, catch a murder and help prostitutes.[/sp] It breaks the monotony up a little.
I just finished playing the Beta. Holy shit, that was fucking dark. Amazing game. I like what they've done so far.
