The rFactor Megathread - Racing sim built around mods.
20 replies, posted
Oh hey guys, I've been contemplating making a thread for rFactor for a while, so, I'll stop being a lazy sod and do it.
rFactor is a racing simulation game, literally thriving off of it's custom content. You name it, rFactor probably has it. That's why for the past few years whilst Codemasters were being a bunch of cunts and using their Formula 1 license to make Wii and PSP games, a lot of F1's gaming community switched to rFactor.
You can race anything in rFactor. From Formula 1 season from 1985 to 2010, GP2, Formula 3, Go-Karts, BTCC from the 1980's, DTM, DBR9's, Grand Touring Cars, Alfa Touring Leagues, Lemons, Soapbox Cars, RC Cars, CORR Trucks, Nascar, V8 Supercars, Rallying, etc.
rFactor let's you race low budget racing leagues open to everyone to the highest tiers of motorsport. There's something for everyone in this game.
The types of races you can do are awesome. From 100 cars on the Nurburgring at night for 2 hours, to 60 car multi class races, to Formula 1 racing. The AI is fully adjustable, so you can adjust accordingly. I really do think rFactor has some of the best offline action in any racing game.
Videos
I can't just tell you how awesome it is can I?

Fucking amazing mod. Let's you bring 150 ish cars to race on the Green Hell. The starting grid ranges from Grand Touring Race Cars, Supercars, to small road legal hatchbacks. Absoulutely awesome.
There's a drawback though, you need to own GTR Evolution to install it.

Really detailed, and challenging to drive cars.
Tracks.
I'll list a few tracks down to download, but, please, don't bitch at me for not posting every track from the Formula 1 calender. Browsing rFactor Central is easy, so, just find it yourselves. Trackpacks included in some of the F1 mods are convenient, but, not as good as the individually made ones. Protip, the trackpack for WCP 2009 is actually pretty good.

Please note
I just wanted to show you this game, I'm not babying you through installations and stuff. If you want, you can ask some questions that I'll gladly answer. I figured out how to install everything, so you guys can too.
So yea, enjoy rFactor.
It keeps giving me an error when I try to register :frown:
Really disappointing, because I want to try this out.
I just tried it with Firefox and IE (I was using Chrome) and it didn't work, either.
Wasn't there just a thread about this a few weeks or so ago?

Right here, apparently
But I like this one better :3: It has a better OP.
What error is it giving you?
What error is it giving you?
Literally nothing. It just says 'There was an error with your submission. Please try again later.'
Literally nothing. It just says 'There was an error with your submission. Please try again later.'
same thing for me.

Yay, I was mentioned!
Nice OP dude! This is way better than mine.
This game got a tad boring so I uninstalled it.
Ugh
It costs $40? A 60 minute demo that doesn't let me go in any races without exiting and prompting me to buy it?
Not enjoying my experience so far.
Well, I know the demo doesn't feel good. Not to mention, I felt like I wasted my money when I bought it and didn't have mods, but, then, I found RFC. mind was blown.
As for the website not letting you register, let me make a thread in their forums.

The first video looks boring to you? Shit my standards must be low then. :v:
[editline]10:13AM[/editline]
Well I managed to register an account to check out what was wrong, and I got through fine under the name John Biscuits.
I used a hotmail though.

But rFactor isn't a rally game really, sure it has custom content, but, I'd rather direct you over to Richard Burns Rally, Dirt, Dirt 2, and yea.
Is it me, or is rfactorcentral slow as shit now?
rfactorcentral is slow right now i think. Anyways this looks awesome and i bought it right away this gotta keep me busy until GT5.
It's not slow for me.
Then again your posts are like 8 hours old.
Bumpy
I'm thinking about buying this game, the amount of mods is amazing, that's what's pushing me to get it.
[editline]12:35AM[/editline]
Will my wheel (Logitech driving force GT) be ok with this game?
I used to play the game with a Driving Force GT, and it worked fine. Some of the cars can be difficult to handle without a clutch, but for the most part, the automatic clutch works perfectly well.
Turn Left: The Game?
What's the specs?
Might be worth trying because I'm kinda bored with GT.
Also, do they have road cars?
[editline]09:30AM[/editline]
Stupid doublepost.
I'll only download if there's a Delorean.
Also, do they have road cars?
Yes, but they're ficticious. Although there are mods which add real cars.
Is there any form of pacenotes for this game? The only plugin I ever found didn't include the sound files. That's the only thing which ruins rallying in Rfactor for me.
