SH is an online FPS produced by benchmark makers Futuremark. It features stunning visuals, a unique setting, and completely zero-g gameplay.
The backstory:
In the semi-near future, the moon has been colonized and extensive mines have been dug. However, someone dun goofed, and this happened:

Some of the pieces of the moon floated into orbit around the Earth, forming a debris field that came to be known as the Arc. The massive debris field has made it impossible for any craft capable of re-entering the atmosphere to arrive or leave, leaving the few survivors stranded. They have split into two factions, the MMC and ISA, representing the private mining corporations and the various military groups who had installations on the moon. Now, the MMC have scavenged weapons and machines, and are desperately fighting to stay alive in the asteroid field above the earth.
Gameplay:
SH plays like a generic online shooter, with the exception that everything takes place in a weightless environment. This turns even simple maneuvering into a challenge.

For weaponry, each player is given a pistol, melee pickaxe, and a grenade launcher with six different types of grenade. In addition, you're given the choice of assault rifle, SMG, railgun, shotgun and heavy machine gun for your primary firearm. None of them are particularly powerful, but the emphasis of combat is on maneuvering, as well it should be in a game like this. In fact, at times SH plays more like a starfighter game than an FPS. For long range shots, you can automatically stick to any surface to ground yourself.
SH also features several different gamemodes that can be played on each map. They range the usual shooter territory, "capture all the cps", "attack/defend cps", TDM, etc.
Normally, your spacesuit runs an "audio simulation" to let you hear enemy gunshots, smashing crates, etc., but when you activate "silent running" mode, all sound goes away except your heartbeat and steady breathing. This makes you very hard to see and gives you a "super-realistic" space environment, but your maneuverability is severely limited and you lose your HUD.
I picked up Shattered Horizon a few days ago, and I've absolutely loved it so far. Unfortunately, the game's high minimum requirements (DX10 is necessary), extreme learning curve, and download-only release have led to a very small community. I have yet to find a populated server. Still, bots were recently patched into the game, and they aren't half bad. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a fresh, unique experience. It's got a low price point, amazing graphics, distinctive setting, original gameplay, and a whole lot of realistic spaceyness. Oh yeah, and did I mention it's fun?
If you aren't convinced yet, listen to this. The soundtrack is badass as hell.

amazing game
It's a real shame no one plays this. Seems like if we could put together a full server it would be incredible.
It's a bland game, but damn nice to look at
A great game, along with Breach and Lead & Gold.
I love this game, but no one plays it.
I find it really sad, though, that when they added the new weapons they took away the original assault rifle. That thing was damn sexy. It even had a aliens-esque ammo display going on.
Greatest thread title ever.
Someone gifted me this game awhile ago and then one day my privilege to play it was revoked because the person's credit card was wonky or something :saddowns:
Awesome game though.
It seems people here like it. Maybe we could get an FP server up?
Bought and downloading.
There was something about the gameplay that wasn't engaging.
Ender's Game reference?

Yes
I'd play it but my computer can't run it for two shits. :frown:
Sucks too, from what I played I fucking loved it.

It made me so happy.
