I downloaded HL 2 on my new laptop, since it's way better than my old one, and so far it runs very smoothly except for one thing: when you distance from objects or NPCs, they whiten up very quickly. I've played the game on a friend's comp, and this doesn't happen to him. It's not anything important, but if anyone knows a way to fix this, I'd be thankfull. I've tried changing some of the video settings but it didn't help.
Tells us your specs.
Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4300 @ 2.10GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.1GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM Hard Drive: 486 GB Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family Sound Card: Altavoces y auriculares (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC) Sorry it took me a while, I'm not very good with computers.
Try changing some of the Performance and Graphics options using the In-Game Console. A list of the most useful commands are listed here: http://www.tweakguides.com/HL2_8.html
Oh, that's another problem... no matter how many buttons I try, I can't go into console. On Spanish keyboards it's usualy the ñ key, but not on this one. I swear I've tried every single key and none of them works.
You have integrated graphics. That's the problem/
You have integrated graphics. That's the problem/
That's probably it. Can you post some pictures so that we can see for ourselves anyway?
Integrated graphics, that's the problem.
Ah, so that's it. I guess I can deal with it. Thanks for the help.
pfffff integrated intel graphics..... fail
I hate answering like this but: Buy a new graphics card.
pfffff integrated intel graphics..... fail
What do you expect, they gave me this laptop for Christmas.
I love how some people buy laptops thinking "OMGOMGOMG 4GB RAM OMGOMGOMG" and then coming home to find it has integrated intel graphics with 64MB dedicated memory.

Pretty sad really. You have a potential gaming laptop, but you have integrated graphics. :Dawkins102:
What do you expect, they gave me this laptop for Christmas.
Well its not for newer games... just get a stationary computer...
I don't think it's the integrated graphics since I have the same integrated graphics on my laptop and i can run hl2 fine. Could run hl2 fine before my source games all sploded.
Or just run game at DX7. Simple.
I have a desktop with Radeon 7750 1GB card and I face the same problem as the OP, i had to play game in Directx 7 mode to solve the issue. Is there anyother workaround.
You bumped a 3 years old thread... Do you play a pirated version? after the engine update HL2 doesn't support DX7 anymore... anyway try to use the command cl_detailfade 0
Try to get new proccessor thoug like intel core i3, i5 or i7
Try to get new proccessor thoug like intel core i3, i5 or i7
Dude. Rule number one of Facepunch: don't bump threads like an idiot. Try to read before you post next time.
Thought bad reading was back for a second there.
