Some week ago Steam started freezing up during most unfortunate times (in the middle of a group chat, or when you're trading something on TF2). Whether I'm chatting, gaming or just checking out someone's profile on the community, Steam just freezes up and stops responding for about 1-5 minutes.
It's not anything that bothers me too much, it's just really annoying.

Anyone else had this happening before?
That happened to me long ago...I just don't close out and wait awhile to see if it will be responsive again

I get this a lot. Especially if I go online for friends. If I stay offline, everything is fine. Most of the time I'm set to appear offline.
Happens a lot to me.

I've been getting that a ton after the new UI update.
Steam just locked itself up for 20+ minutes.
What the fuck is this shit
how many groups are you in? i had the same problem i just left alot of groups ( i was in about 700 groups now only 15 groups) and it runs smoothly.

That must have been a fucking pain leaving over 650+ groups seeing as how you can only leave one at a time...
I have the same problem, not as bad now however. I just disabled all notifcations besides chats and left over 50 groups. I also disabled the news notifcations to. Those where annoying.
Now it only locks up when I loose and regain connection for steam, it locks up for around 2-3 minutes.
Mine locks up too, but it doesn't seem to be random. While I don't see it happening at specific times, it seems like it happens when Steam wants to yell "STOP PRESSING BUTTONS GIVE ME A GODDAMN SECOND FUCK"
