Need help with Hammer editor

So tis is my first time with hammer, and when I try to make a block this shows up instead of the block:

Im trying to make a Counter Strike map, it´s not Source Engine so that guide is not for my case... sorry

There is basicly no difference between the two hammer versions.

Go to view and click shaded polygons or something.

Counter Strike: Source is on Source.

I think you can right click or left click on where it says camera in the top left corner of the view screen and it comes up with a drop down box with all the different view options.
