IN CASE YOU'VE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK The Razer Hydra is a new motion controller for PC that has support for tons of games, including Valve games (and Potato Sack games). It comes with a free copy of Portal 2, too. AND an exclusive map pack that has tons of new content such as moving portals and stretching cubes. (video below) The Razer Hydra Sixense controller is available at Razerzone.com for $139.99 USD. $140. I think I'll wait and see how it's implemented in more games. Motion control is hit-or-miss with me. Edit: It says 125 games but where can I find a list? E2: Nevermind. It's here: http://www.razerzone.com/minisite/hydra/supportedGames You should link to it in the OP or something.
I hope that DLC won't be canon, cause that ability with the Portal Gun. Stretching and moving cubes is kind of crappy, in my opinion.
$140? I thought they said it'd ship for about ~$70
I hope that moving and dragging cubes wherever you want is just included in the DLC. Think how easy you could solve the tests.
I hope that moving and dragging cubes wherever you want is just included in the DLC. Think how easy you could solve the tests.
It's exclusive to the controller.
140 USD? holy shit
It's exclusive to the controller.
Yes, I know you get those special abilities when you buy the controller, I meant they only apply in the exclusive map.
When mine arrives, I'll upload a video of me playing some of the other maps.
Yes, I know you get those special abilities when you buy the controller, I meant they only apply in the exclusive map.
Yeah. There's most likely a script in the map that toggles the new Portal gun abilities.
TBH, the features shown in portal 2 can be done with a regular keyboard and mouse.
TBH, the features shown in portal 2 can be done with a regular keyboard and mouse.
IIRC, in Portal 2 you can't rotate the Redirection Cube, while it's 10 feet away from you.
It works with amnesia? That's actually tempting enough by it self, although it is quite expensive
I wanna make a sort of interactive music visualizer with this. It's extremely accurate by the looks of things and should be perfect for that. Maybe a boxing game with a twist.
IIRC, in Portal 2 you can't rotate the Redirection Cube, while it's 10 feet away from you.
Rhe same functionality is done in GMOD by holding the E key. Im sure its possible to do that in Portal 2 without this device.
I want to try it in Mirror's Edge. Punch a hole in my monitor to knock out a pursuit cop.
this looks dumb
Portal's Mod
Precision, immersion and control are more than enough to convince me to buy this thing. No doubt.
Yes, I know you get those special abilities when you buy the controller, I meant they only apply in the exclusive map.
Nope. You can replay all the old maps with the 'portal tweaking' and '1 to 1' abilities.
Nope. You can replay all the old maps with the 'portal tweaking' and '1 to 1' abilities.
Wouldnt that cause glitches ?
I think it's interesting how this works compared to other motion controllers. Apparently this uses a magnetic field.
So now the portal gun is a physgun?
Holy shit, it's compatible with both Half-Lifes, Team Fortress 2, both Left 4 Deads, GTA 4, and Crysis 2. What doesn't this thing do.

I wonder if someone could make those "Hydra-exclusive" levels work with just keyboard & mouse.
I wonder if someone could make those "Hydra-exclusive" levels work with just keyboard & mouse.
would be illegal
would be illegal
I don't think it would since it's already ingame
I don't think it would since it's already ingame
but the map comes with a product worth money
but the map comes with a product worth money
Who gives a shit? Valve doesn't, they're not the ones selling the product.
