• What happened to "Sixense" ?

It's been some time since I last heard the word "Sixense". You know; those Wii like motion controllers developed Razer and "Sixense", with Valve and Steam (and Razer) being it's partner. What happened? Sources: http://www.sixense.com/ = Official site http://ces.cnet.com/8301-31045_1-10429832-269.html = News article (I'm not sure whether this should be posted in "Hardware and Software" or here.) It's been known for a little less than a year. You can see for yourself; when you open Steam and go to "Tools", you should see "Sixense SDK". It's been there for some time. Wait, what? Co-produced by Valve? Tell me more, please.
I've never even heard of them.
More info, OP.

The Left 4 Dead 2 part looked pretty sexy/
Gentlemen, I think we've found the third surprise. :geno:
Wait, what? Co-produced by Valve? Tell me more, please.
Searched for more sources; my bad. Valve is enthusiastic about it, and makes it support their game(s). In this case, Left 4 Dead 2. It's being co-developed by Razer, but Sixense partners include Valve, Steam and Razer. (http://ces.cnet.com/8301-31045_1-10429832-269.html) And it's been known for a little less than a year. It's because Valve wants money too. So they pretty much help them make it work good for their games.

Looks fucking shitty. Novint Falcon support is already on Valve games, why would I want to play with a Wii controller instead? You'd play a campaign with it, go ok then and put it away.
The melee system on Sixense is fucking awesome.

Sixense actually looks quite useful, especially with it's precision.
Very neat stuff.
They dropped the project when they realized how much the controllers looked like dildos.
It's because these bad boys exist. Yes, I do have one. It's fun as hell once your completely bored of L4D. It makes it a lot more intense in expert to.
Motion control on the PC ? Cool, I guess
I want this so bad.
I've seen this once before but never heard of it again. Nice to see it still exists.

What happens if you swing that thing like crazy
What happens if you swing that thing like crazy
It probably would turn into a kills-everything-melee-of-doom, they probably need to build some advanced stamina system into the melee weapons so you can't just shake them around like a retard.

Great to see that it isn't dead! I can actually see myself using these. Unlike the average pc gamer who whines at controllers I enjoy them and at times prefer them over keyboard and mouse. So this looks interesting. One thing I wish they would do is to still have the viewmodels for the hands when you swing stuff in l4d2. Would have been a bit hard to make but a sort of dynamic view model.
I'd love to find out how they did the whole melee system. Is there some certain swing speed that constitutes a successful hit, or is it just a lightsaber that kills on contact? I noticed multiple hits on the door bash in Andru91's video, that could start some serious rage if you could hit more than once per swing. I also realized the movement control they've done completely eliminates the crouch-jump ability.
It killed itself because it saw dead people...
I would buy this so fast if it was implemented into Portal 2, GMod, or especially Minecraft. For shooters, I think I'd prefer a mouse. [editline]6:55 PM[/editline] I wonder how flexible the SDK is? [editline]6:55 PM[/editline] A Valve puzzle game (not Portal 2) featuring this would be an instant buy for me.
wrong thread. go figure.
Only issue is people standing there trying to cut their own heads off.
