The Sim Series
The Sim Series was created by some man named Will Wright, after he finished the first SimCity he set out to create more "Sim" games. The Sim series was born! This thread will not include The Sims since there is already a thread on it. All I can say it is the best selling PC game of all time. Now to the point. The thread will be based on chronological order.
SimCity
The year was 1989, it was a dark night and one guy named Will Wright wanted to pass the boredom so he developed a game. Thus SimCity was born. He wanted to publish this great game so he spoke to Jeff Braun, and Maxis was born. The goal of the game is obvious, it is to build and manage a city! Simple right? But this isn't your average computer game. You had to maintain the city with micro managment and all sorts of other things.
SimEarth
Will Wright wanted to create a new game in his Sim series so he created SimEarth. In this game you basically play god, you control the temperature and all kinds of other stuff to develop the planet. Quite a fun game if you ask me.
SimAnt
You might be thinking "SimAnt? What kind of a game is that?". This game is one of the most unique games ever created. You basically control a ant colony. You have to avoid the humans, you dig tunnels and other stuff.
SimLife
SimLife is a game like SimEarth, you control the ecosystem and you can make chickens with dog heads. It's that simple. You control the evolution of a planet.
SimCity 2000
One of the best games in existence, most of you will get nostalgia from this game. It is a real classic. Like the previous SimCity, you build and manage city. The differences is that it is isometric, different elevations and underground layers for pipes.
SimTower
One of my personal favorites, SimTower is a great game for new Simmers and hardcore Simmers. You build a up a huge tower where you can combine Hotel rooms, offices and much more. SimTower was based of a game called Yoot Tower, same game but different name.
SimIsle
SimIsle is a game like Tropico. You build structures to fund the islands economy other stuff.
SimTown
SimTown is also one of my favorite games, think of it as SimCity for Kids. They made it into a smaller sace, a town and removed the micro managment. Quite fun.
SimCopter
This is the first game that Maxis made that is in actual 3D. You fly a helicopter through a city, doing rescue missions and being a air taxi. The best part is that you can fly in the cities you made in SimCity 2000!
SimTunes
SimTunes is one of the best Sim games to date. You make like a painting and set off little bugs to play the colours for you. This is infact so good that I even included a video. Jump to about 1:30.
SimPark
SimPark is a classic, you are a national park manager and you must control the animals and flowers and other stuff. Wikipedia explains it better.
Players have to quickly learn how doing (or not doing) various things will affect how their park grows. For instance, if certain flower types aren't planted, the park won't attract bees. If the bees aren't flying around the park, then pollination won't occur, which is an important aspect of keeping the park growing. On top of properly managing the plant and animal population, players are also required to identify the park's plants and animals.

Streets of SimCity
There is no better sentence to explain this then "Think GTA for SimCity". The city you built in SimCity you can import into Streets of SimCity.
SimSafari
Think SimPark in Africa. Wikipedia explains better then me.
Unlike SimPark, the game is divided into three different zones, the nature park, the tourist grounds and the African village. The ultimate aim is for the players' park to reach five stars, although like most Sims games the player can continue playing indefinitely. To gain five stars, the player needs to make sure each zone is being run properly. The player can control tourism and staff.
The game had a paragraph of information on every species in it, with short animations for the animals. Scenarios including one where the park is overrun by rabbits and another where the camp is burned down. To contain rabbits, one must place many animals that prey on rabbits, or catch them all in nets. To contain fire, the player must bulldoze around it to keep it from spreading.

SimCity 4
The greatest game ever made. This is the single game I have played most of. I think I have clocked over 1200 hours. The feeling and the music and everything makes this game one of the best games I have ever played. This is the sequel to SimCity 3000. Differences include the ability to drive cars through the streets, better music and much more. If you want a city-building game then this is the game your looking for.

I am not mentioning SimCity Societies since that is not a real Sim/SimCity game.
I thought this is a tribute to will wright?
EA stop shitting out sims games, make a new proper simcity 5.
I loved these games. My favorite are:
Sim Park
Sim Ant
Sim Town
Sim Farm
Sim Tower
Sim City
I loved Sim Ant and Sim City. Wasn't very good at either, but still fun!
I loved sim city 3000, is it abandon-ware yet?
SimFarm For the win.
Was moving my computer and my games into another room last week and I found Sim City 4..Might reinstall soon and play again..I remember having a lot of fun with it.
SimTower was fucking amazing.
SimTower was fucking amazing.
I used to love SimTower but there was always a point when all my apartments would go on sale and I never found out why.

SimAnt and SimTunes were the best things ever,
My child hood would of never been complete without them.

Oh god the nostalgia
Motherfucking nostalgia.
I picked up like a 5 pack when I was younger, it had Simcopter(FOR THE FUCKING WIN), SimIsle(never really ran well, and my agents kept getting lost in the woods), Streets Of Simcity(Not half bad), SimSafari(played it a bit, not a huge fan), and SimTower(played alot, sucked at it).
Also, Fucking SimFarm. Played the shit out of it in my elementary school computer class, and then bought it and played the shit out of it at home.
Why was the OP rated dumb?
I love the old-style Sim boxart. Very art-deco; shame they abandoned it.
Why was the OP rated dumb?
Ignore the ratings and move along with the thread, dear.
Simant offered one of the most horrifying experience in my life on videogames.
When you were scampering along as the spider and all of a sudden you see that huge motherfucking spider eating ants and it suddenly takes interest in you and you boot it all the way back to your hole yelling "NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONO" with the goddamn spider right behind you.
Ugh, I was so disappointed by societies. One of my least favorite games, probably because I was expecting so much.
Streets of Sim City was amazing but I never had the full version when I was a kid so I just went around blowing buildings and other cars up.
Sim City Societies is a good game, just cause it isn't a real Sim City game doesnt detract from the fact it is a good game. It's a good game on it's own merits and shouldn't be compared to Sim City.

I didn't even think it was good on it's own, there was one thing that mattered it that game, to have as many citizens as there were jobs, SimTown had more complexity than Societies.
Basically Societies got boring after around 2 hours of gameplay.

What the hell, the images aren't showing up.
Still have sim tower on my old laptop to this day, could spend days just messing with elevators to make them 100% efficient.
Loved 2000 to bits as well, due to the amazing editor (Made my old house in pixel form)
SimCity became free.
That fucking spider in sim ant
holy shit when it eats you your face gets assaulted by the spiders face eating you
I'M ARACHNOPHOBIC :byodood:
Also, sim farm is abondonware right? Can anyone find a download? :buddy:
SimCity 2000 Wont install :frown:
I loved sim ant! Our computers in grade school had sim ant on them. I was too young to know how to play it though. Is sim ant free now?
I've been dying for a good sequel to Sim Ant. That game was a huge part of my childhood. With modern gaming technology it could be made a lot more realistic as well.
