Allods Online is a Free-To-Play MMO. Before you go punching a child about it having a cash shop, the Item Shop is only used for buying stupid useless shit.
This thread has huge pictures
Plot
Now for a brief summary on what goes on this world. If you actually somehow care about the plot in any MMO then here you go: Sarnaut (The main planet) was once peaceful, it had cool shit and other cool shit. Then some shit happened and some civilizations fell, while others rose.
Some random stuff happened with wizards and some shit about Harry Potter, whoever that is. Then a great Cataclysm came and everything got destroyed by the Astral. Now there are floating chunks of land everywhere and the whole thing is called the Allods. Then they made ships and shit.

Help Improve the OP, give suggestions on what to add!
Wasn't this the game the devs butchered by changing the game-play so you'll need to continuously buy cash shop items to actually normally play the game?

Not that I know of.
Yes it was. You had to buy some kind of "charms" to keep you going, otherwise you were just ground to a halt not being able to do anything effectively.
They implemented a curse system a while ago. Everytime you die, there will be a chance that your equipment will actually get negative stat points (instead of +3 strength it would be -3 strength). This feature made me quit the game.
I heard this game sucks balls
Sorry to hit you off on such a bad start OP, seeing with the work you put in the thread and such. But it had to be said so new players know what they're getting in to :smith:
This is probably the only F2P MMO I've actually put time into, it's definitely well done.
I stopped playing because it took forever to level and get any content. I have played korean grinds that were faster than this.
There are some quests in the game that offer the incense kits. I take the slower leveling as a way to get to know my class more, and I don't really want the game to be extremely easy.
There are also different things than leveling in MMOs. Socializing with other players and doing player events are a couple of the things you can do.
I hope that the devs will see the potential this game has. At the low population of the game, they will eventually have to realize the way they are trying to run the cash shop won't work. I put alot of work into this thread, if a new patch fixes any of the problems I would be quick to revive it.
It's too monetized.
Free play is just an infinite trial, but you got no chances against paying people.
Instant memories after seeing the picture of the flying ships.

Yep. You could always buy it from the Auction House if someone put one up for sale, but it was expensive. Basically it's this item that boosts your damage by 100% (and more depending on your level) and Healing by 100% (Also more depending on your level) And it lasts for 24 hours / 7 Days /21 Days I believe, depending on which you get
So when you can do more than double the Damage and healing than those who don't have it, why bother playing at all unless you pay
But until that point, Allods was great

Interesting. This game has amazing potential, and I left a while ago when they talked about adding the curse system. It's disappointing that they're milking as much money out of it as possible with these pay2win items.

Yeah it is, they added some bullshit called essence and if you don't buy it you deal -100% damage to everything.
It was a great game and I really loved the battleship aspect and also the fact that there's a race that resembles the Necrons from Warhammer 40K but, they had to fuck it up, I mean, they could have just added a cash shop with items, I'd be okay with that but adding something so crippling as this essence shit? The fuck were they thinking?
Now there's also some annoying curse system. At this rate the game is simply going to die which would be a shame.
There is a quest that gives you 24h of the boost. You can do the quest every day, and I think it only costs 20 silver. You talk to the same person twice and you get it.
I'm gonna go see what it is ingame.
This was my favorite MMORPG before the Gipat patch.
I was all ready to download the client up until I decided to see what the catch was since the game sounds too good to be true with the airship battles.
Fuck.
This game was mind-blowing during beta, before the horrid string of patches that slowed leveling to a crawl, added the cursed item system, and gave paying players an advantage.
Oh Allods, you so crazy. Asking $20 for a 6 slot bag...

Gibberlings. A playable race of Allods. Instead of playing just one though, you play three gibberlings. Same effect as playing one character.
I have been playing this game alot today, I reached level 7. Before I really start to put time into it I want to know what is up with this insence. Is there no way to earn it apart from buying it?

There are some people in the main towns that you can buy the effects of incense. They are pretty cheap and last 24hrs.
I was thinking of playing this game again, I left before the curse patch.
Good thing you guys reminded me of how much the devs suck.
Well I have figured out how to get the 24hr insences stuff, the pay to win is gone now it seems, awesome!
[editline]19th January 2011[/editline]
Also add Iamtidal if you want, me and my friends have just started and might make a guild.

This is actually a great game now. They more or less fixed it much to my surprise. Totally worth playing. I'm on Tenesess Empire.
